Hello everyone I just got my E300 sport a week ago today, so very happy to have it and to be here.

The first day my ambient lighting had an issue, which service fixed. But since I've noticed- if I search google images for E300 ambient lighting, some cars (usually with the digital speedometer / tach)- have a strip of LED lighting above the speedometer. My car, with analog gauges, and several other pictures, isn't lit up above the speedo.

Anybody know if there is supposed to be ambient light above the speedo? Does you car? Thanks everyone. John

There's no ambient light above the speedometer in my E300 or any of the loaners I got.

There is on mine, top and bottom but no left and right. May be it is turned off from the ambient light settings. All parts can be controlled separately.

I think the ambient light above the speedometer is only on cars with the second LCD replacing the standard instrument cluster. Mine has the standard instrument cluster and it does not have the ambient light above the speedometer.

I currently have one with two LCDs, and there's lights on top and bottom. It's from sept. '16.

I was also disappointed when I received my car and there was no ambient lighting on top of analog gauges. I thought it would since the loaners I had, had the p3 option with the digital display and backlit. Who wants to find out if its possible to add that strip of lighting?

I checked the manual... and for ambient light settings the manual shows you can select
front
back
display

for intensity settings.

But my car, with analog gauges, has
front
back
entire car

so, no lighting behind analog gauges. I don't mind- there's plenty of ambient lighting! I just didn't want part of the system to be broken. Thanks everyone.

I have the second 12.3" display and the ambient lighting runs across the entire length of the top and bottom of the display screen, about 25" wide.

May I ask: how many colors do you guys have?

It's 64 colours. Though many are very similar it's hard to tell you've changed by one increment.
