Dropped my car off for custom dyno tuning today
Dropped my car off Black Market Racing in Phoenix today for Custom tuning. Did a quick baseline run today before I took off. Car made 543 hp 605 tq stock. Will update once its dialed in. With dyno sheets.

Damn those are really strong numbers for a stock car. This explains why you trap 11.5@123mph on a stock e63s lol

Base line was with RADO DP and the intake spacers and filters on stock ecu so to not be miss leading not fully stock just stock tune. We are in phx AZ and today it was 75* and the dyno was at 1500 feet altitude
So the final numbers will be on the custom tune only I told them to just keep it safe on 91 octane ****ty Arizona gas but I'm hoping for 590 hp and 700+ tq honestly is I can run consistent low 11s at 127 plus I will be more then happy. With our gas crappy 91 octane and our DA air I do not expect to set records. But the dyno sheets I'm sure people would like to see when done

Very true although my car is not really a factory freak. It's been very close to being one. No doubt in my mind at ATCO on new stock tires in good air bone stock it could of run a 11.49 at 124 or better.

To answer the second question first. No they as a shop have not done a ton of M157s. But the tuner whos doing it used to work for a company that has tuned some of the fastest m157s out there. Add to that his group of people that he talks with exc. Hell yesterday he was on the phone while sitting in my car with a guy from Germany who tunes only AMGs over seas. He was bouncing a few questions off him. Then add that he has tuned no less then 5 1300 + Hp cars. So I am more then confident they will get me dialed in.
The reason I have chosen to go the custom tune route is very simple. The tune is 100% made for my car on a Dyno, dialed into the air fuel ratios and knock they see while data logging. Why is this better or worse? Simple just like my cars stock numbers every car will be a little different.
When a mail order tune is made they take say a shop car dial in a tune for that car then factor in a margin of safety and ship that same tune to everyone that calls and orders it. The fact is that margin of safety can vary from car to car.
Then add in that I am good friends with the shop owner and the fact that if I need to take the car in he can flash it back stock for me with out me having to mail it in and its a win win.
I few of the cars they have hand built and tuned
This is a 1354 whp Cts V they built
Heres some custom catted DPs and exhaust they built for a GTS
GTS and a GTR in the shop getting some love
Their hand built Air water CTS V intakes. This car made over 1100whp on a low mounted twin turbo set up
If you have a shop that can tune it local I would do it every time. If I could take my car to AMS shop and they could custom tune it there I would. Same goes for Renntech or any others.

I'll shorten the answer for Geno. Besides the fact that custom is always better than not, the reason he's doing a custom tune is because he has access to it. The only reason most people do generic tunes is because a reputable tuner isn't easily accessible to them.

So proximity and actual dyno time trumps historic success/volume? I'm not being a smart @ss, but actually really curious.
I have a local guy here that has done a handful of these M157's, but I'm highly concerned that he hasn't done all the extensive testing an AMS, Renn, EC etc. might have done to make sure that they are safe.
Like, with custom are you going to try and wring out that last 5% vs just building in a inefficient safety margin and calling it a day?
What's the flip side to this argument that an OOTB tuner would make? I always read about their "we maintain the mercedes safety limits bla bla bla". Is that just marketing fluff?
I'm VERY interested in your results. Thanks for posting!

Mikes E63 I think is the only other one but they did not have his in dyno mode and his is RWD so its hard to know. I dont know his before numbers but his after were something like 581-722 on EC tune again not using Dyno Mode and he is RWD. But mike stepped up to another tune since then again so his car is surely stronger now
