Taking the extended warranty for 7 years. and prepaid service for 4 years. Probably sell it in year 5 or 6.

If the car holds up reliability wise I usually shoot for around 100k for retirement. I also took the 4 year prepaid service.

I took the extended warranty but didn't do the PPM. The cost that I was being offered at the dealer seemed a bit high, so I passed on it.
Figured with the amount of electronics on the car, having it under warranty as long as possible was a wise thing to do.

probably 7-10 years. I had geico so I purchased the mechanical breakdown insurance which technically is another 2 years worth of extended warranty with $200 deductible.

I think that's the best deal for EW, I purchased it for my CLS. It only cost me about $6 a month. You can buy it as long as you car is within 15k miles or 15 months from purchase. I suggest it for anyone buying a new car that is planning on keeping it. The coverage last up to 7/100,000 years/miles. There is a $250 deductible per loss. Their service is just as good as anything Mercedes sells you for thousand of dollars up front..

This past Friday was my 1 yr anniversary and 20k miles. (And new front rotors along with the overpriced B service) I'm making plans now to get out of it and into something else.

New rotors?? Seriously? I'm about to take mine in for service B but I have the pre-paid service. This car was a huge mistake. It's like the Saturn of luxury vehicles lol

Yeap! I had a serious vibration under braking around 60mph. So after the local MB quoted me almost $600 for B service and I knew I had a brake problem not covered under warranty (which is crappy), I went to a good local indie shop that only does MB and I've used (parents and in laws too) several times in the past. Got new front rotors and B service for $800. I was pretty upset about needing new rotors too and it was just the icing on the cake. We are currently trying to find something new for my wife (getting rid of the E class) and then I'm going to sale the 400 too and go back to a truck. A truck is just more practical for me.
I'm not totally turned off of MB but I'm now going to shop the other manufacturers a little harder now.

We have the 7 year warranty but I think we'll look to get out around year 5 or 6 depending on maintenance costs (no prepaid) and whether or not we have a third kid. I've been told there are compact child seats that can fit three across in the back seat of the GLE but might still be a little tight.

With 3 kids you need the GLS. Trust me, I know...
