W204 Door will not close and lock

Initially, I had the problem discussed on this forum where the passenger door would not unlock with the central locking. I could normally open it for my passenger by leaning across and pulling the internal handle. Now it won't even work like that. In fact its jammed and I can't move it with the door handle or by pulling/pushing on the black button. Central locking still locks the 3 other doors. The door is free to swing open, so at the moment its being held by bungie rubbers!!!

I have the internal door trim removed, but can't see any immediate physical restriction, so I guess it's within the door lock. Anyone come across anything similar? Is there a 1st aid fix until I can replace the door lock?

Thanks for the advice - I'm in Australia and new to the area. I was about to put the whole thing back together and pushed the door close and for some reason it locked!!! Now I'm buggered!!! as I cannot open the door to put the internal trim back on.

I've managed to get the window closed so I can drive the car.

Any ideas how I could mechanically unlock the door? I can just see the tang on the door post
Thanks

Had this same exact problem last week with my driver's side door. The outside handle worked so to open the door, I had to roll down the window and use the outside door handle.

Went to a 3rd party Mercedes specialist, they fixed the actuator for the power lock and also had to fix the internal mechanical lever.

Total cost was $515.30 USD.

Thought I'd do an update to my 'buggered' situation! Whilst I cycled the central locking using the key, I thumped the area around the locking actuator with the something heavy ( I actually used the owner's handbook!!!) I pulled on the lock pin and it unlocked. Phew, now I'm back to where I started. I can live with this until I try to fit a generic central locking cylinder as suggested in another post. I'm currently in the middle of replacing my door lock actuator now. It stopped locking some time ago when using the remote key. I determined it was the electrical actuator inside the lock assy. I used an OHM meter at Plug 7(pins 6&7) of Door Control Module- it was open circuit. My problem is I have purchased a genuine one (A$290 from MB spares Canberra) and it's the latest and greatest ordered from Germany and the new model has a different hole for the locking bar(the bit that has the button that goes up/down)- it's has not just a hole but has a fancy white plastic holder for the locking bar to go into. I'll keep you posted when I return to Sydney after the school holidays. I'm hoping MB Spares will be able to find a fix for me whilst I'm away. Cheers

$AUS different now I guess.....They have to order it from Germany..... The part Mercedes in Germany sent was the latest P/N (which is not totally interchangeable for my VIN) so I needed to buy the "locking bar" (the rod that goes up and down) as the mechanism for securing it to the door lock actuator assy had changed (another $58 from my local stealershio)- I couldn't wait. Although I could've sent it back and asked for an earlier version of the P/N.... Enjoyable but time consuming job in the end- I bought a 3/16" Pneumatic Rivet gun capable of pulling 3/16" Stainless rivets- only cost me $100 for the tool and I can use it on my next lock(hoping I won't need it though)...When you take the fancy inner leather door trim off the door you are bound to break some of the orange clips- $7 EACH from my local stealership...ouch.
