Ported + Polished Heads
While waiting for the body shop to schedule my car in to finish up the custom rear metal flares I figured to bring the car in to my trusted indie shop to get the head bolts and lifters replaced. During this repair I had the heads ported, polished, valve job and resurface done. Won't have a dyno for awhile till the car is done completely. Meantime I got photos of the port n polish. I will have pics of valve job later.
The port and polish ran me $1300
The valve job and resurface ran me $500

Wow. That looks pretty good. Mine goes in next week, but my shop advised me not to do the PnP as the heads are pretty good overall and said I might lose some power down low for not a significant gain up top. I'm definitely interested in your gains. Has anyone tried the dimpled heads? I've read up on the theory behind them but have seen very few people use them. Not sure if that's due to cost/benefit or if they don't actually work in the real world.

This guy's is a gun I have seen his work on Instagram
So your the lucky fellow that got these ported heads
Take to to a flow bench and see how.much they flow for us?
Also since you went down this road make sure you get black series buckets and rev that sucker to 7800

Yoh first time something different than the usual Jap cylinder head work I have seen. They really done a marvelous job on those heads of yours.

I didn't know the BS lifters were any better. I've done some searches and even read in AMGs head bolt thread that they are not much of a differenace as the design hasn't changed. Too late anyways the lifters were ordered and already soaked in oil. Car will be fully assembled tomorrow.
Flow benching would cost me $100 a cylinder not looking to spend anymore money. I'll just be happy to break into the 500s finally.

I've been following him and want to send my heads to him all the way from Australia
His work is amazing mate
Yes black series buckets are TI and can take more abuse and more RPM
Keep me posted man

Im sure he will be flattered to hear that. I'm surprised you found out about him considering these to be the first Mercedes c63 heads he's ported. He did say himself though these are the biggest ports he has ever seen.

Did he do any work on the comb chamber? Are you sticking w stock compression?
Are you going to put some custom or am cams in?
I wonder how the port matching at the headers looks and intake manifold looks stock? I suspect pretty good. Unlike domestics where there are gains there.

Ahhhh I love it man, looks great! Some flowbench cfm figures would be lovely if you can get them...if not...we'll make do with whp when you get a chance
Ahhh what, really?? Damn, if I knew this, I would have bought those instead. So....regular SLS buckets can't do much more than what normal M156 buckets can do?
Are you referring to 'the throat'? If so, I'd like to know this also.
Compression....more of it would be nice, but I guess high comp pistons x 8 + amg tax will be very expensive. He would always deck the head, but the gains in static CR will be minimal (in the tenths).

I didn't know until I brought mine also
Not much man there just upgraded to a better material / design
Maybe a extra 500 rpm
Every little bit helps

Having ported a set of heads when I was younger.... I did not know what I was doing and removed too much material from the intake runners, and from the comb chamber... result was loss of tq, loss of comp ratio, and poor performance.
Def need to know what you are doing, and what your goal is.
There are desireable sfc finishes on the ex and in side as wells... and comb chamber. Perhaps some of the more knowledgable mechs can chime in......
Cant' wait for your results/exp!

No cams for now rather get a blower for the money especially after what Celicasaur is going through. I know I know it's probably the tune but still you need to get that **** fixed haha.
