Exclamation Possible 2005 CLK500 Purchase

Good Afternoon W209 owners. I found a low mileage 2005 near by and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger. I know its probably best to buy a 09, but this 05 is very clean. show room clean.

I saw on some forums you can check the VIN # to help determine if there are known issues with this 05' motor or transmission etc. I would like to avoid buying a headache as we all know repairs will be pricier on a pre-owned luxury car (had a bmw)

Can someone run this VIN for me?

CLK W209
Are you aware if it's a 5 or 7 speed auto? 5 is good, 7 is proceed with caution. Unless there's proof of it having had work done on the transmission already.

It is a 7 speed auto with only 41,000 miles. Per the carfax all scheduled maintenance has performed at Mercedes dealers. Few odd things have been fixed. Ashtray, third brake light (twice) h

2005 CLK500
I have a 2005 CLK500 with 62K on it. Overall it has been great. I do have a current issue with the Cam Position Sensor. I understand this is not uncommon.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Valve cover gaskets often leak, but that's a fairly easy job. My biggest concern would be the early 722.9 7GTRONIC transmission. The speed sensor swill fail requiring a dealer-only job of replacing the conductor plate. The fluid pump sleeve bearing will wear and whine, and the torque converter is crap and will pollute the fluid, but frequent fluid and filter changes can help with that one problem. Otherwise, the M113 engine is in for the long haul.

I bought a 2005 CLK500 going on 5 years ago.

The only time it didn't start it was because I had been playing with the light switch and left them on.

I have put 17K on it. I had one service at MB of San Fran (rip off) and another oil change done locally. Car has been largely trouble free but it does do a couple weird things. Sometimes moving one part of electric seat causes headrest to go up at same time.

Once or twice e the electric windows haven't gone back up the last 1/2 " after closing doors.

I sometimes smell burnt oil, I imagine I need the valve cover gaskets swapped.

But largely it has been a "magic car". I turn the key, it goes. I had been contemplating a CL600 and a couple SLx00s. Decided to side step the ABC worries and got a pristine CLK.

I had the steering wheel set to go up whenever I got out of the car, eventually the "dog bone" broke. I bought 4 more but haven't replaced it yet.

I put factory Comand in to replace Audio 20 it came with. Not as useful as Google Maps but then again, it always knows where I am, no internet or Cel service required.

Have not regretted it except when my 6'1" sister got jammed in back seat for a trip to OC.

They are good cars, fun to drive. (steering could be better)

As long as you avoid bad tranny, good to go for years.

If HID leadlights make sure both headlights work all the time and dont jitter or blink occaisionally-. for mine had to replace ballast-

I only test drove in daylight.
