2017 C43 Coupé
Thumbs up ALL RATTLES FIXED BY DEALER!

Picked up my C43 back in March 2017. I heard the rattles the moment I drove out the dealership. I knew the W205/C205 platform tend to have a lot of rattles, but the AMG sports suspension made it hella worse than normal C classes. Although I did come from a BMW 5 Series, so my standards for rattles in the interior are rather high.

Anyway, decided to take it into the dealership to fix all the damn rattles. Not only did they fixed the rattles I brought up, they went above and beyond and fixed some that I didn't even know about. However, new rattles came up recently, so I took it in again this Monday, took them 4 days to fix all the rattles. THE CAR IS DEAD SILENT NOW!

I have attached the work order sheet for the rattle repairs, I hope those who are currently struggling with the rattles will find them useful.

Kudos to Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield!

I have two noises in the car, both solved by me for ease. first was instrument binnacle, all those hard plastics. A little felt to two gaps solved that. The latter was the tonneau cover, a little grease on the mount sorted that. Pretty much silent now, get the odd noise due to material expansion (heat/cold) but nothing persistent.

Does everyone still have terrible cabin noise over road reflectors???? My car has no other rattles, but sounds like it will implode over reflectors....

Is it just my car or does the plastic cover behind the COMAND screen make noises over road reflectors and certain bumps? Can someone give me a solution to fixing this rattle?

Wow. Awesome dealer. Mine gave me "MB corporate doesn't pay us much to track down rattles, so we can't spend a lot of time on it but I'll see what we can do."

Got to try another dealer when I take the car in for the recall.

Great post!

My dealer fixed MOST of the rattles for me, but I haven't had any luck fixing some stupid burmester system issues

For the poster above, the comand screen rattle is an easy fix and the dealer should be able to notice it right away. It is a known problem with several w205 models. Mine was making terrible noises even during hard acceleration and braking. It is dead silent now after the fix

Might have to print up those screenshots and head to my dealer, lol.

Getting alot by the command screen and passenger side area of the dash. Also the front passenger door panel is extremely chatty (smooth road or bumps, it's not picky!)

Have taken mine to Mercedes of Marin 2 times now and the thing still rattles all the time, every time they give me a lousy excuse with a promise that all is fixed.

I had rattles on the passenger side dash and the door panel too(so I thought). I discovered the glove compartment door was loose enough to rattle/vibrate when closed. I put adhesive felt bumpers on the contact points of the compartment door and eliminated all of the noise from the passenger side. I will show it to my dealer next time I am in to see if there is a better fix, but the glove compartment door was the culprit.

As the temperature has risen the rattles have gotten worse for me. The command center screen is the biggest offender. The tiniest crack in the road makes noise.

Thats an easy fix. You can do yourself. Or ask dealer to fix.... The screen rattles against the dashboard. You need to remove the screen (5min job to remove the screen), add felt inside the dash on the bottom part where the screen assembly is seating and also on the touching contact between the screen and dashboard.
What you cant fix is the plastic noise due to temperature variation thats coming from the screen itself especially from the contact between the plastic and the metal edge.
My dealer replaced the screen due to this issue. Was ok a couple of months and after start again making noise.
The rattles i fix myself, dealer was telling me stories about how they cant reproduce even if they tried hard. Took me approx. 1 hour to fix properly the rattles on that aria.

Took mine back to the dealer for some rattles that had gotten even worse. They had it for a week and generated a phonebook of a service invoice. Tore apart at least two door panels, one seatback, both b-pillars, the sunroof, and the dash/COMAND system. Car finally is as quiet as it should be!

I guess the lesson is be persistent and hope you draw a good tech and SA when you go in.

nice lionel, maybe you can post your findings for people to see here. I fixed one recently with the rear hatch rattling (thought it was sunroof at the time).. I think others could benefit

The service invoice has my personal info and VIN all over, so I'm not going to post it directly. But the sunroof fix (basically clean and lube everything) was the only one that I'd want to tackle myself. Everything else was definitely a dealer fix--I wasn't exaggerating when I said they put in a week of tech time to tear everything down.
