E55 With 15k miles

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...g/1955216.html

Just saw this on Hemmings. I've been toying with buying a nice E55 as I have an E430 w 195k miles that is my daily driver...great car, amazing actually.

What do you think of this price? I say he/she is dreaming, but you never know. It's exactly the color combo I would like...just too many cars to be had at that price.

If those are original miles, it's a fabulous car. Don't know about the price to actual value. KBB prices it at $9,200 in the Maryland zip code. This is what I paid for mine in LA. a few months ago, 74,000 miles in excellent shape.

2001 E55 OMG
OP, your last sentence says it all. Yes it will be a better experience than the E430 but is it a car you want to collect or utilize like the 430? If its the latter, then why spend so much for the car.

I just cant see this car gaining high dollar value in the future as a collector car for the investment. On the other hand, the E55 is a special car and I think is more of a enthusiast vehicle.

Of the other cars you have the ability to buy for $25K, what is it that you are looking for? Faster? Newer? Unique? Thats up to you to decide.

$18-$20K would be my high limit knowing what I know after owning one and having the opportunity to get this car with infant mileage.

it is amaizing to me that these cars do not hold value for as nice as they are. This price is high. I paid 22 for mine and I regret it. At 63 years old I will never see that money again. The 2001 and 2002 I would be my choice. I would buy a less than perfect care and dive it. I have 2 of theses and they are in good condition but not perfect but I drive them and enjoy them. In my cars I can use my bluetooth phone and I have auto wipers.

my advice is go newer, pay less and enjoy the car

Yes, too high for me, plus no garage space! Still neat to find one with that low mileage. And I agree with e55Phil, just drive them.

I think 80-140k miles and $6-10K is where a lot of these cars are selling lately.

That's nice W211 E63 money. I've had both and the E63 is an all around better card.

E63s do have more issues though and are generally more expensive to own.

I love W210 E55 and owned 3 of them in the past 6 years. Black 2000, Silver 2002 and Silver 2002. But $24,500 for a 17 years old E55 is not worth it. I don't think W210 E55 is collection car. Just enjoy driving it !

I'd have a hard time paying over $10k for one with no issues and lower miles. Sure, 20-30 years from now a super low mileage one may be worth $20k+, but not right now IMO.

To be honest its more worth it than spending double the price on a way less reliable w211

Wow, what a find. Its a shame it has been barely driven! For the record, I bought my 01 with 85k miles for 6200. There was a list of maintenance that needed to be done so worked out a deal on the price.

Have you owned both? If not, your opinion isn't really valid.

I got to ride in a W213 E63S with a pro driver around Laguna Seca at the PL event. It was so much nicer than my W211.

As an active mb enthusiasts I dont need to own any specific mb car to tell you that it has weak points and that it might not be worth investing into at the moment.

I stand by my statement. From reliability point of view, a w210 e55 wins over the w211 e55 any day, especially when you factor in the costs of parts such as airmatic suspension or supercharger.

So what is the price you 201 e55 lovers would pay for this car?

Anyone, anyone, anyone? Lol.

Well I had a PPI done on it and it needs about 10k worth of work on it. The Seller had passed away a year ago and it sat a year prior.

The seller was willing to reduce the price so it's in transit.

It all depends on what your looking for and what it's worth it to you. 25k is a deal for a car of its caliber with that low of mileage.
I have an 01 I bought in 02 for 60k and it currently has 260k and I've spent 10k plus the past 2 years keeping it up to date. Sounds fair to me, honesty it only sounds expensive if you can't afford it.

A friend of mine said the same thing to me before I bought it.

I figured I'd be into it $20k when I'm all done initially and another $5k within a couple years as old cars need things.

I'm quite amazed you've kept your e55 so long and with so many miles. At what point did it become a part time driver, or a is it still a daily?

I have own my 06 E55 for almost 9 years and it's very reliable. The only repair I did was water pump, engine mounts, control arm and Coil-over swap. I have CLS55 for 3 years, I have only oil change, Air filter change, tires swap.

My previous W210 ==> Brake switch, control arm, ball joint, AC compressor, Fan clutch, transmission fail, Second Cat fail, secondary air injection, engine mount, transm mount ... It's just OLD and they just fail. Don't tell me W210 is more reliable because it's about the same.

The reason I still have my W211 E55 because it's been very reliable. The most money I spent was header, tune, pulley, wheels, tires, brakes, E63 bumper, CF diff... Performance wise no comparison between W211 and W210. Also W211 handle and brake better. This is my last 9 years of experience with multiple E55.
