Eurocharged V_7 Beta Test

I was lucky enough to have my car be selected to be a test vehicle for the new Version 7 tune that is currently in Beta testing.. Hands down this is a game changer !! This tune is able to crack into the Variable Valve timing file with the use of HP tuners, combined with ignition advance, and fueling to take full advantage of the potential of the M156.

I installed the tune last night and the car absolutely flies !!! There is a noticeable power and torque increase across the RPM band but especially above 4000 RPMs. After... 4000 the car finds a second set of legs and hits warp speed. I did a couple tests with a 40 mph roll on and 40-90 flies by in about 4.5-5 seconds. Today coming off an on ramp to the freeway I hit 130 in 4th gear. S+ mode is savage with very aggressive downshifts and instant throttle response. S mode is a little more refined until you give it some gas and then you unleash a fury of raw power. When in comfort mode I am used to a more subtle throttle response but now when you mash the peddle the car downshifts and you unleash a rush of power like you were in sport + before. The unofficial butt dyno is telling me if feels like a 40-50 hp increase.

Here is the crazy thing the only mods that I have to my car are row air boxes, afe filters and a resonator delete. No headers.. no exhaust mods at all.

Nice to know this is coming especially since I was looking to update my tune! Any increased burbles? How do the shifts feel?

Did you have a tune prior to changing to this tune or was it stock?

Waiting for the dyno data to compare the tunes and track results if you plan on going

Also, it would be interesting to see the long the term effect of this tune vs previous/other known tunes.

Yes everything you liked about the v6 tune is still there shifts are similar to the v6 as well. I took a friend out today and he was surprised at how smooth and linear the power deliver is.

Wow. This is amazing. Really bold move to pick an M156 newbie to write a review of his new tune. Real game changer. Thanks for the objective experienced unbiased viewpoint.

Tell us more about the "Variable Valve timing file" please. And please describe the "unleashing of raw fury" - how much fury exactly, and the degree of ferocity is what exactly?

Can I pay 2x as much for this please? I feel like anything less would be cheating you guys.

Honestly this feels like a real chicken**** move by EC. Again. Instead of someone officially coming out and telling us what's up, they keep hiding behind these bull**** beta testers who have no idea what they're talking about.

Irritating.

I have the v6 tune prior to this and I have scheduled dyno time for this Friday. I plan to do stock vs v6 vs v7. I will let the numbers fall where they may. There is a test and tune Friday and Sat night here at Albuquerque dragway so I will post the results. We are at 6000 ft elevation so numbers will have to be adjusted but I am more interested in the MPH.

Jim I am glad to see that you are your usual grumpy self. I saw the results of the dyno test with full length headers and saw that they mentioned cracking into the VVT file. To me that was the key to unlocking power in this set up. So I emailed Jerry and asked if I could be a test car. He agreed and here we are today. I will do my best to show before and after results both on the dyno and track and I will let the numbers fall where they may.

Just confused how you can mix hptuners and dimsport hardware.they are using different systems and can't merge the file together.

Either it's hptuners or dimsport ?

This is one of the relatively rare times that I agree with Blkrokt. Giving a beta tune to a newbie versus to an experienced owner with a strong history of mods with the car is irresponsible and wrong because

- the newbie won't recognize when something goes "wrong" with the beta tune (e.g. if the shifts are a bit TOO firm)

- the newbie has no reliable and measured/documented basis for comparison

- The newbie is easily impressed, but his impressions are worth very little since he lacks experience with how the car has performed and behaved with various tunes and/or mods up until this latest beta

- Giving the beta to test to newbies instead of past experienced customers is insulting to the past experienced customers. It kind of says "we don't value the work you have done and the money you have spent over x years"

Of course this kind of b.s. rollout of a beta product to relative newbies instead of experienced owners is probably good for some quick cash sales to newbies who get excited relatively easily. And maybe that is the whole point of the approach.

Some vendors just have no class.

I was considering buying EC tune after this magical unicorn tune comes out to test it myself, but after all this mystery in picking who tries the tune, I will stay away for now. Really weird especially the silent act from EC in regard to this. I would imagine they will be here at least once or twice a day to answer/discuss their tune. I was willing to buy it and compare it to my current OE tune on both, dyno and track but I may just save my $$.

I just wanted to compare both tunes out of curiosity and see the results and if their claims are real. I'm happy with my OE tune and I'm sticking with it

You're probably better off. The previous tune only records were from MHP and OE....

I agree it's weird that eurocharged doesn't just come out and explain. However if this is real and the power is real I'm getting it. I bet all you will too just saying. Eurocharged if your listening def not a smart move to not beta test big name players on this site. Makes it seem skeptical even if it is real. Seems plausible but makes it seem fake. I wouldn't hate too much on eurocharged though been very happy so far I will wait patiently.

Let's not all get grumpy about a "noob" happy with feeling a difference in the flash because as it may be placebo he may have felt it. The way he described that tune legit made me smile and want it myself, he may be low key a salesman for EC lolol.A lot of the same guys who said I didn't make this and didn't feel that got proved wrong in the last 3 pages of the beloved 500whp thread. I deff didn't get just a single flash but schumulator and myself proved our numbers with ALLLLLLLLLL the data you guys wanted.

OP the way you described the tune was nothing short of amazing

BLK and Jim G hats off to you two LOLOL

Butt dyno is useless.

Don't get me wrong - I am very happy with the service I have had from Eurocharged but theUnicorn/V7/development tune seems to be all smoke and mirrors with more questions than answers for anyone with half a brain.

If Jerry sends me a V7 or whatever it is called tune, I will do back to back same day dyno runs against my current V5 on a stock vehicle (save for AFM filters), at an independent shop, at my expense and I will post every scrap of data I get.

+1

Travis, do a dyno run stock, a run V6 and a run V7b.
Then you have a baseline, as well as the two tunes.
Of course, there can be variations between runs on the same machine
but thats as close as you can be to getting stock power then seeing the difference between the two versions.

Everybody can have all the histrionics they want, but theres no way more data is a BAD thing.

So here is the back story on how I was able to get the v7.. there is no special sauce I email Jerry at EC and offered my car as a test car. He asked what version I currently had and I told him v6 and that was it. I got the tune because I asked for it..same thing anyone of you could have done. As far as me being a "noob" Ive been a member of this fourm just shy of a year and been an Owner since February with a Eurocharged tune installed from the beginning. I try to be a contributing member to better the community as a whole. I am in no way affiliated with EC.

This is exactly what I am going to do followed up by runs down the 1/4 mile. It will be done at a local independent shop paid for with my own money and raced at Albuquerque dragway.

I won't touch it until I know what the deal is. Picking up another 40-50whp (gathered from the other dyno threads) on this new "tune" technique needs some technical explanation for me at least.

I'm picking up another 40-50whp at Costco tonight. They're on sale.

I think Costco will only sell those to you if you are a newer, inexperienced member. They haven't told their long-term customers about it.
