2016 GLC fuel door assembly?
We bought our GLC a couple months ago and got a steal of a deal on it. Of course, while test driving it and such, we never put fuel in it, and never thought to check out the fuel door assembly for failures. The vehicle itself is in fantastic shape, and had only 8k miles on it.
However, when I fueled it up the first time, I noticed that the fuel door hinge was at some point broken and the entire fuel door was broken off of the vehicle along with part of the hinge arm. Someone had covered the entire shebang with some sort of epoxy or maybe even hot glue, and had failed to do a very good job aligning the two pieces also making the fuel door rub slightly on the fuel door opening.
So, I have a couple questions…
1. anybody have ANY idea, ballpark speaking, of what a new assembly from the dealership might cost? I can’t find one used or on a wrecked vehicle, and I don’t want to have to deal with it anyway.
2. Is this something to be aware of?
3. has it happened to anyone else, and
4. is there a better way to just FIX it instead of replacing it?
I should mention I am fairly handy and have no problem doing mechanical, electrical, and electronic work. I just don’t want to screw it up worse by not knowing what I’m getting into ahead of time.

hinge assembly is 73.00. Cover is 42.00. Need to check with Mercedes if cover is painted. I would try to get selling dealer to fix properly.

Watch out for spammers and HS artists.
You need the following: 253 630 53 02, 000 820 23 03, 253 757 04 00 and 000 991 54 95.
Go to any dealer and ask to look at Group 63, sub group 045 EPC picture and pick what you really need.

To the OP - the new Mercedes parts are available thru your dealer - and yes they will need to be painted.
That said - sure scour eBay and you might find a yard advertising parts from same year model..
----------- To Plutoe -------------------------
Plutoe - thanks for the comments - and ownership is not requires to make comments on this GLC forum - you don't own a Mercedes GLC - do you ? have you ever driven a GLC ? are you planning to buy a GLC ?
Just asking - oh - I forgot - do you own any Mercedes SUV ?

Well, it finally gave out...
The fuel door assembly came in half today. This is what was on the bottom of the armature...
this is the exact broken part. The fuel door cover is a separate piece that voluntarily removed itself when this came apart. The fuel door vover is the painted bit, so i can simply reattach it to the new arm assembly if i get one.
looks like its part # 253-630-53-02. Does anyone have an inexpensive source for this part?

I bought a new GLC 300 in Oct last year and the same happened to the fuel door last week (the car has less than one year of usage). The hinge suddenly broke while I was closing it after fueling the car. It has never been forced or under any kind of stress, the hinge's material just seemed to have worn off for some reason. There might be an issue with this part, the hinge seems to be of poor quality.

I was able to replace the assembly pretty easily. Remove the painted panel from your beoken one, the broken Assembly comes out after carefully drilling the four little indents with a drill no bigger than the indents, and just popping it off the fill tube. The new one goes onto the fill tube, and snaps in place, then you put the painted cover back onto the hinge assembly. Took 10 minutes tops.
