2018 GLC43 delivery delay for modification
GLC43 arrived at the Port of Baltimore over 3 weeks ago but was told by my dealer that it is being held with the rest of the GLC43s for a modification. Anyone else heard the same?

There has been some discussion of this on the last page of the "GLC Order Waiting Room" thread, just below this one, on the first page of this forum. I think they start with post #668 on....

2018 GLC43 delivery delay for modification
My 2018 GLC43 also arrived in Baltimore several weeks ago. I was told today that mine is delayed waiting modification. It was originally scheduled for release to the dealer on 8/15. I was told the parts are suppose to arrive between 8/18 and 8/20. I was also told there are 45 vehicles currently with this status. The dealership was not specific on what the modification is. My vehicle arrived in Baltimore on the Drive Green Highway car transport ship. I got updated on 8/18 that my new release to dealer date was 8/30. I got updated on 8/30 that my new release to dealer date is 9/15. I just got updated today, 9/12, that my new release to dealer date is 9/20. Got update on 9/19 the my new release to dealer date is 9/30. I got updated on 10/3 that my new release date would be by 10/14.
I found a recall for 2017 GLC43's which may explain the delay.

I'm in the same boat. My '18 GLC '43 arrived late July on the Sincerity Ace in Long Beach and has been held for "mod parts to arrive which they do not have a set ETA for, therefore they have an estimated ready date of the 31st. It is on the hotlist, but unfortunately they will not be able to have it ready until parts arrive". No details were provide on the parts/mod.
I wonder if we all have an option in common responsible for the delay or if it's all the '18 GLC 43's. I REALLY hope it's not an emissions thing and they're detuning.

As Vaboy indicated, we've been discussing this in the GLC order waiting room as well. My 43 arrived at the port of Long Beach on 8/3/2017 and has been sitting idly since. Everybody seems to be indicating the same thing so I assume it's with all 43's that have arrived. I have not received an updated delivery estimate from my dealer at this time, but am standing by. Hoping we can keep each other in the loop as information comes in. You are not alone! But the wait just seems to get longer and longer...

1. I am hoping it's a sign that they are starting to release the MY18 43's to dealerships
2. I'm not sure on the territories of peeps on the forums who are still waiting for theirs (east versus west coast, I'm west) but I would've guessed the priority 1 vehicles would've have been the first to the dealers not their lots, but I don't know the science behind this and how long that particular car was at port.
3. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that I have it the first week of September as most, including my dealer, seem to be indicating.

I'm waiting too
My GLC 43 has been in Long Beach for 7 weeks. At first we were told they weren't releasing 2018 SUV's yet. The longer I've waited I've heard all kinds of excuses. Last week the dealership finally said it may be a recall. No promise of delivery date, just have to wait. No clue what the modification is or might be. Anyone else having this problem?

Tbro thanks so much for the update. I was curious if anyone had an update given I was not able to get any new information. I am going to hang in there until the end of the month, but it just seems now that every 2 weeks we get pushed back another 2 weeks. Hard to trust what we are being told because we are seeing GLC 43's in small numbers appear at dealers.

Hah I'm not holding my breath since my experience is like yours. Every two weeks becomes another two weeks so on and so forth. I feel worse for you though being that yours is a 2017 and has been here since July. At least that's what I understood. If I don't get it by October I'll be in a stickier situation though considering I have several trips planned out of the country each being about 4 weeks long. I do find it interesting how these things work and how it only seems to be affecting the SUV's

Yep 2017, arrived in Long Beach July 19th. Me too find it really interesting especially the huge disconnect between the dealer and the VPC. I would not mind the waiting if I was able to get exact reason why and a real delivery date. Funny both of us waiting in AZ - let' s hope we get good news real soon.

MB is holding the 2018 E63 S and the AMG GTR, same garbage communication with those customers as well. They've got pics in the W213 forum that shows rows upon rows of cars that have been sitting in the VPC for months.

Yeah when I spoke to the GM he told me they had GTR and E63 orders that had been there longer than mine. Not too surprised. Pretty cruddy.

Talked to the GM of my dealership yesterday. He said the car is waiting installation of a "module" that is backordered and my car now has a ready date of 9/30. It's been at port of Long Beach since 8/2. He said that it was for some government cert issue most likely to do with emissions, but the manager at the port that he spoke with was pretty vague with the information that was released. That's all I have to go by. I can only hope 9/30 is the actual date. After some back and forth my dealership offered me an additional $900 off the already negotiated discount to keep my business since I mentioned potentially dropping the deal. You aren't alone.

I think your dealership is blowing smoke. Something to satisfy you with an answer. Along with changing the estimated delivery date. I suspect they get zero information from Mercedes or are not allowed to reveal it. I say that because there are MY18s sitting on dealer's lots. Mine has one. So whatever "module" is backordered either applies to certain builds or dealerships are getting first crack at them.
In any case, some sort of information even if a guess is better than going blank and their effort to give me options at least gives me something to go off of. I just update in here as I hear things, smoke or not. Soon enough we will all have our cars.... I hope lol.
