I have a 2010 e63 and in will not go into park.I can shift into neutral and drive fine but will not go into park with the shifter or the park button.
I shut the car off in neutral and open the door and it goes into park.Anybody else have this happen.

A faulty brake light switch located by the brake pedal can cause this issue.

I thought you couldn't shift it out of park if the switch was bad, I can shift it to neutral and drive but it won't go back into park

Did you receive an auxiliary battery malfunction message? It's responsible for supplying power to the gear shift.

No. Is it under the dash I will replace it tomorrow do you know the part number for that battery?

Well known issue ... you need a new shifter/plate button mechanism

Does the shifter only go into park with the button or can you push the shifter up for park.

Will not go into park just with the lever. The button must be pressed.

On a side note, if you end up needing the shifter assembly, let me know. I have one that you can probably use some parts from

Has anyone had this problem.What part did you replace the black box on the side of the shifter or the L shape circuit board under the button?
My park button works 7 at 10 time.

I have the exact same problem on my 14 E63s, did you find a solution other than spending 900 on shifter?

I bought the shifter assembly from a junkyard. I have my original "box" on the side of the assembly, it's fine if anyone wants it. The mechanism got broken on mine

My ‘13 was having the park button issue and the good ‘ol overnight battery pull fixed it. At least for now.
