Upgraded Aftermarket Sway Bars

Hey guys,
Over the past 2 years I've been reaching out to as many sway bar manufactures possible. All for the most part have ignored me. Well today one replied and said they would be able to produce custom sway bars for us. My question is...are all W211 sway bars cross compatible? If so, providing E63 sway bars as an example would be appropriate for fitment as the E63 has the largest diameter? In addition I've created a poll to see who would be interested in purchasing a pair of upgraded sway bars. Please let me know your thoughts. The more orders the better pricing will be. I'm picking up a set myself regardless. Thanks!

Applications (assuming fitment is the same across entire chassis):
W219
W211

What's the benefit? Can I do more burnouts without destroying my rear with it?

I have a local tube bender that can make us sway bars if we provide him with 1 to replicate.

sorry guys...the place i was planning to have them made quoted me something like 1000-1200 for front and rear sets. its rather difficult to front all the money so i let the ball drop on these. I did ship them a set of OEM E63 bars to base them off of.

E55 and several 928s
The issue is that the front bar is massive. Just huge. The rear bar is quite small. That equals a specific kind of handling. How much bigger could tye front bar even be?

In some cars they just modify the leverage point which also works.

Since the factory bar is hollow, making this as a solid bar in the same diameter would increase the torsion strength with out having to go larger.

Did your connect give you an estimate on cost?

Were they going to be made of titanium or something?

when you make a short run of 5 front and 5 rear prices are higher. when you order larger quantities of course price will drop, but we only had 5 people who were interested. if you want to front the capital to purchase more than 5 sets do it and i'll buy a set.

he did also mention new endlinks and swaybar brackets and bushings would need to be made and that was not initially included with the estimate. no idea how much that would cost or if that could be worked into the original estimate. i'm sure it could be.

the E63 sways i sent to him were 380 shipped so i'm already out that amount.

Last time I had sway bars made they cost about 200 each for a run of 20 pieces.

I would need an oem bar to have them make a jig for it.

i guarantee you that you will not be able to sell 10 SETS easily. you'll find 5 upfront buyers which i would be included, then sit on 5 sets for however long that takes. i personally would like an uprated front and rear bar.

That's why I'm not offering to make them.

Does anyone know if the CLS sway bars are larger? They seem to have the same replacement part numbers

The only thing that brought me to this thread is that I've spent countless wasteful hours searching for upgraded / replacement swaybar bushings for my E63 so I can finally get it done while my engine is out. I found some on ebay but they don't have the plastic covering attached like the factory bushings and you cannot get them from Mercedes with purchasing the entire swaybar assembly. This has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever encountered with such a small part. Anyway, I do know that from lots and lots of experimenting with my foxbody mustang that larger swaybars are not always better unless you're already starting with undersized swaybars and struts / shocks to begin with. There is a such thing as them being too stiff and it has a negative effect on grip in a corner, even though you're not "leaning" as much. The car "pushes" more. In MY experience, I ended up going back with the stock front swaybar, larger rear swaybar, better shocks and struts, better springs, poly bushings, and better TIRES. In other words - EVERYTHING had to be changed to get the desired effect. We just don't have those options with these big AMG's. Having said that, it's pointless to mess with your swaybar diameter / stiffness unless you're going the coilover route, IMO. I don't think the airmatic is set up for maximum cornering ability.

I modded the leverage point and it made a noticeable difference.

Do you guys know the diameter of the sway bars for our cars? Are they 17 or 27mm?

Thanks.

W219 doesn't need improved anti roll bars. They're far, far larger than the W211 and the entire chassis is 40% stiffer. If you wanted a car that can corner, you should've bought a CLS, not an E class.

this comment is as ignorant as saying...you don't need wider tires because your included tires are good enough.

if "I" feel i need more lateral control, "I" feel like i do.
