For the W222 tune:
What kind of warranty do you offer on the engine/transmission/powertrain (if any)? I’m interested and live near Huntington Beach. I have an extended warranty on my CPO 2014...

Does the tune for the W222 run on California 91 octane or do I need higher octane (which is difficult to find)?

We warranty the ECU for 1 year from purchase. You will find other tuners that offer engine/powertrain warranty do not back this up. We have not had issues with any CPO warranty claims.
Our tunes are developed and tested in California using CA91 premium gas (our location is in Huntington Beach). All our tunes work perfectly on 91 octane.

Thanks. I suspected that they would try to not back up their warranty or would have such ridiculous requirements such as the engine has to be shipped to their office, etc that nobody would be able to meet the requirements. This said, I think the main concern is that every tuner will claim that they haven’t had any problems with warranty claims but the statistics won’t support that either. What would be helpful is knowing that if a warranty claim is denied that the tuners would help support the owner’s claim that the tune did not cause the engine/powertrain malfunction. The best way would be to provide any specific tune parameters that were changed to the owner should the need come up (once the failure and warranty denial has occurred). It would also be helpful if the tuning company would also support the owner by providing specifics of other cars that have the same tunes and have not experienced failures (either other customers or if the shop owns an S class with the same tune). Would you be willing to do the above? I am interested in taking advantage of your deal and willing to take on some risk BUT not if I’m going to be on my own should a warranty claim get denied.

Do you have any references from other W222 owners that you could provide? I’d love to validate that they aren’t having any challenges but I don’t see too many people on these forums that are actually claiming that they have the tune and have had and currently have no issues.

We have local SoCal dealerships that we know are "tune friendly". Unfortunately this is not the case with all dealerships and it is very broad to assume so. Under warranty the manufacturer/dealership has to prove the tune is at fault first.
Sorry, we do not give out customers details, but I am sure by doing a search you can find some M278 550 reviews here on mbworld.

That is what I figured. Nothing against you or your company, but I only tune my cars these cays with cloned ECU's or Flash tuners. I have my own reasons for only doing things that way. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly/

We no longer offer ECU cloning service as many ECUs are hard locked to vehicles VIN/EIS after a certain amount of driving and we cannot be responsible for used ECUs. For a spare ECU, we recommend obtaining through the dealer. We can tune any spare ECU that works in your car, without issues.
