I want to install the Maybach 20" R91 wheels on my new S560. Beyond the eye watering price, I'm told there may be an issue with not fitting correctly.
Can any of you knowledgeable folks opine on this?

I am not familiar with the R91 wheel but if it the current Maybach wheel it will fit. The offsets are the same to fit any W222.

Is this the wheel you are talking about? If so, it is, IMHO, one of, if not THE most beautiful wheel ever offered on a luxury sedan. Too bad it’s a 20 incher only.

The Maybach has the same body and suspension as the regular S, only a tad longer. No reason you couldn't use the wheels on a non-maybach car. They are a really good looking wheel too.
Yes, Streamliner - that is the wheel! Although for 2018, they have apparently designed a combo wheel cap / lug nut cover that gives a more seamless presence to the wheel face. I completely agree that this wheel is a work of art and takes the sedan's presence to a higher level. Priced at $3,900 as an upgrade on a Maybach but $8k from the parts department,. Painful but I need to have them!:-)

I’m SURE there is a way to obtain these wheels for less. Just find a dealer who will cut you a deal or possibly a parts supplier in Germany. I realize this may not be helpful now, but I would have made the wheels part of the deal for the car. I buy or lease this nice new car from you Mr. Dealer and you cut me a great deal (cost plus 5%?) on a set of these wheels.
I actually tried to leverage the lease / wheel deal. My very fair sales rep who I know well said NCD. They did give me a strong discount on the 560 and modest discount thru the parts department on the wheels, for what its worth. There are some German and even a Chinese knock off supplier that will sell identical / similar wheels for a 50 - 60% discount - just worried about what I would find in the box upon arrival. I've been thinking we all should discuss forming a buying group to leverage the purchasing power of this blog group. I gotta believe that if we negotiated w/ one of the large multi-store MB dealer organizations, (Penske, Fletcher Jones, Sonic, etc) we could structure a meaningful discount deal.Thoughts?

Of course, any non OEM replicas would be unacceptable, but I do believe that there are legitimate suppliers of genuine M.B. parts that offer substantial discounts. I know that my local MB independent repair shop obtains genuine M.B. parts and discounts them to his customers. I don’t see why someone like that wouldn’t cut a deal on such an expensive item. As far as any mention of Fletcher Jones goes, I will not even set foot on the property and I live in Newport Beach. I’m not quite sure just what descriptive terms to use, but unethical, dishonest, cut throat, high pressure, bait & switch come to mind. They will never get a dime of my business.
Streamliner, I've never dealt w/ Fletcher Jones - sounds like you had a very bad experience. I work now w/ MB of San Francisco - formerly bought cars from WI Simonson in Santa Monica for many years - now owned by Sonic, I believe. Both very good customer experiences.

Yes, I bought my very first new M.B., a 1979 450SL from Simonson. I went on to buy five more from them, before moving to Orange County. I now deal mostly with M.B. Laguna Niguel or their sister store, Foothill.

Ive had some pretty good experiences with some aftermkt wheels. Very hard to beat the prices and if you do damage one a replacement isny crazy. Maybe worth a shot to try them?
If your dead set against aftrmkt, scan ebay alot of wheel places that swap wheels and sell take offs.

I agree, there are some very high quality, aftermarket wheel suppliers. I guess it was the reference by the OP to the possibility of “Chinese” knock-offs that turned me off. I know there are some pretty decent things made in China, but in the foreseeable future, I’d like to think that wheels for my very fine German car will not be one of them. In addition, I’m also sort of crazy when it comes to wheels: I just can’t bring myself to putting any wheel on my car that isn’t a factory wheel. I could go with a wheel from a W221 or a Maybach, but not something from a custom supplier. I guess I just like my cars to look stock. All that said, since I’m trying to stay with 18” wheels for ride quality, that pretty much limits my choices to OEM wheels anyway.
These original wheels go for over $8k on Ebay. This is over priced that I would think an original take-off set will go for about $4k+. $8k new from the dealer is a bargain. Our SL65 forged AMG wheels list for $12k a set. I bought take-offs and feel that's the best way to save on factory equipment.
That said, I am against replicas. The majority comes from China and there is no company standing behind the manufacturing quality. Driving in Germany at high speeds, your life depends on good brakes and tires (+ wheels); I wouldn't economize on these even if they are a bargain.

I ran a 20" s63 rep on my w221 for almost 3 years in Nyc and although i did bend 2, Im pretty sure any wheel would have bent in that situation. Im into wheels and currently own more than 2 sets of 3 peice forged wheels, hre,rennen forged, ac schnitzers, Ive owned them all. I think a new set of reps sometimes just fits the bill.... Ive bought take offs that turned out to be bent and thats another debacle. That said 1st choice would be a mint set of dealer takeoffs for 1/2 off list!
Im on the hunt for some 222 multi spoke amgs... But so far nothing good. Heavily considering a nice new set or reps that i could have in 3 days!

Most reps are not a proper offset for the models that they are offered for on Ebay, etc. and offset matters.

I personally like the new S560 sport package 20" AMG Twinspoke wheels better looking and they are much easier to clean. Best yet, you should find new take-offs at the lowest prices over the next couple of months.

When I bought my AMG steering wheel and airbag I went through a parts distributor in Germany ( cost was $4700 here $2170 in Germany), but shipping is expensive, and there is a chance (though very small) the boxes could be opened and checked at customs. I do not know if the people I dealt with can get you wheels, but I'd be glad to ask for you.

I just paid a premium to purchase a 2016 CPO'd S600 Maybach with original 67R (16'-17' dish style) wheels. Lot's of 600's for sale, but very few quality black ones with low miles & 67R's.
