No glide mode in the 2015 c300
My car is in for repairs and with the loaner vehicle, I've noticed there is gliding mode when cruising and my foot is off the gas. This functionality does not exist in my 2015 c300. Was this function added to later models and is it normal for my vehicle to not go into "glide" mode?

Technically glide mode is only available on hybrid vehicles.
there is a function in ECO mode (on my 2015 C200) whereby the transmission shifts into neutral when you let off the accelerator over 30mph and goes back into D as soon as you press the accelerator or it detects another vehicle in front.

It's definitely not on my 2015 U.S. C300, and I drive in ECO most of the time, I would expect such an automatic shift into neutral to be illegal in the U.S. The U.S. has too much fatal experience with truckers shifting into neutral. When trucker's do this, they call it "Georgia overdrive." They do this when engine revs build up on a steep hill, to the point where destruction of the engine will otherwise occur. At this point, the truck becomes an out-of-control missile.
Unlike truck brakes, the brakes on cars are capable of controlling the vehicle in most situations. But nobody is going to do the tests necessary to prove it. Also, we have automatic gear selection and ESC and ABS to control the effects when the automatic gear selection isn't quite right. Do you want to put these systems to the test, on an icy hill? Be grateful for what you've got; Mama Mercedes knows best.
