Hi All
Was driving home from work and noticed an error message on my c class coupe 2011 year the error message indicated the right dipped beam not working. I changed the bulb soon as I got home I noticed it was a ds1 bulb for which I had a spare in my boot , having changed the bulb unfortunately it still failed to work, so I tried the same bulb on the left head lamp and surprising the bulb worked. am totally confused to why the bulb didn't work on the right headlamp. I can confirm the all indicaters work and cornering light works but the normal light I use for driving on the motorway at night just stopped working on the right hand side. I haven't checked fuses as am unsure were this is located with everything else working such as the indicators and conering light could the fuse still fail? all help appreciated and thanks in advance guys.

Faulty control module. Don't go to Sammy's Shade Tree to fix

It's most likely the Ballast Control Unit Module for that side since the bulb worked when installed on the other side.

hi many thanks for your reply, how easy is it to fit I have had a look at replacement parts on the Internet does anybody body know the correct model number for this my vehicle is a 2011 w204 coupe xenon headlamp

As for the part number, your car is European and diesel whereas most part websites online are American so I am not sure if the part will match since your car has the xenon package with left-hand traffic (feature 621 above).

In all cases, the control unit module part number is 166-900-28-00 and it's for <WITH BI-XENON, WITH ACTIVE LIGHT> which is what your car has but then again, you need to double check that it'll work on your car (European vs American). The cost in the US for this part brand new is $372.

I would advise that you get the car scanned for errors since that's the only way to be 100% sure that the problem is the control module.

many thanks for your reply, I will nip into a garage over the weekend and try get it scanned for errors and keep you updated. I really hope I can get this fixed, a friend said it could be a fuse where would I check for this? if it was the fuse would the whole head lamp compeltly stop working?

Hi guy thank you all for your help it came to light it was the Ballast that needed changing and thus was due to a crack in the headlight which caused water and condensation to damage the Ballast, all is working now happy days thanks again all
