New Exhaust Project
Just a placeholder for now with these beauties. You guys thought I was kidding (or didn’t care) with my posts in all those WTB C63 muffler threads about cutting them off...
Straight-through Magnaflows, single 3” in w/ dual 3” out
3” stainless exhaust piping from the MBH x-pipe back to be completed sometime mid-March
I think it’s gonna be loud

Thanks and agree. The price of off-the shelf catback systems is stupid. All-in it should total under $1000 and make more power to boot.

I started with the config I was looking for and went from there. Straight-through mufflers with single center 3” inlet and true dual 3” outlet in the right overall size (length and height) had my choices down to Magnaflow, Vibrant and SpinTech. I didn’t buy the SpinTech technology so that was out. Then I had no experience with Vibrant outside of import cars, and wasn’t sure if I’d like the sound. I’ve heard Magnaflows before on big V8’s and liked them, and that was further confirmed when my buddy who’s making the exhaust recommended them.

Nice. Looking forward to this.
I used burns stainless components to have a header and exhaust built for my k series years ago. They make mufflers now as well. The race system for the Z06 is really light, but lots of drone and a little obnoxious...

So you are now running the same setup as me??? 2nd delete, resonator, muffler delete??? i have been running this setup for about 2yrs now and wouldnt run anything else.....PLUS i actually MADE money on the project after i sold my mufflers to a guy on here with an E55.
.....and Jim i cant wait to hear it!!! You have LTH so no doubt you MUST have some type of muffler installed. Used to be a Flowmaster guy but then Magnaflow stole my heart when i had my 426 Grand Cherokee, up until i tried another lesser known company's system and that was all she wrote, close the door, lock it, nail that b*tch SHUT!!! Solo Performance produces THE best sound for V8s no questions asked and they use J-pipes to adjust the tone/drone as Daniel mentioned he did above...google Solo and give them a listen, i promise youll be semi-erect before the 1st video is over

Jesus....
I've heard this set up...have you heard it in person before? It's like...just when you thought you'd heard it all with a LTH car...going mufflerless takes it to a different level.
I'm waiting on delivery of a similar box from the USA. Dual 3" in/out resonator to help reduce a few DBs...i'm sure I'll still complain about the volume after though.
Good luck...you going to weld it at home, or have a shop do it?
I have an AeroMuffler thing on my Celica. I was hoping for more vtec and all kinds of awesome...but no. It did however do a good job of trying to keep the volume down, somewhat. Too fat and thick though...catches on any form of speed hump.

Magnaflow and Borla exhausts make V8s sounds great IMO. I used to have a V8 300C back in the mid-late 2000's with a magnaflow exhaust... They're pure sex lolol. I added 2 extra resonators in the set up to help out with drone on the highway. Post vids when it's done!

Ever looked into the Megan racing systems? They have a rep as a cheapo company but I ran their cat-backs on several m3's. Fit and finish was excellent, as was the sound.

Here is what I was going to do! Was going to do full 3in all the way to the back with an h pipe where the stock resonator is and just slap on these bad boys with OEM looking tips.

your stock resonator IS AN H-PIPE......and if you dont have long tubes you dont need mufflers at all

...although i WILL say that i dont think that the end result is entirely fair being that they KNEW that with the 2.5 the engine was then running richer but didnt re-tune...HAD they re-tuned i believe that it would have been pretty close to a wash any way you cut it

I've been traveling non stop for work, and my friend has been slammed too. We're looking to do it in July, but that month is starting to look fooked too. I'm going to make a new, functional aluminum rear diffuser at some point. We may find a way to integrate this with the exhaust if we have time... I like what FMU did on this CLK with the semi-blown diffuser. That’s the goal.
