New Brake Pads?
Need some advice here...I have 22,000 miles on my C63 S Edition 1. Recently started to receive a service message that says "check pads" The graphic seems to indicate that I have crumbling brake pads/ Anyway, just wondering how long I can expect the pads to last? Does the graphic mean the pads are really bad or is there like 5,000 miles left when it comes on? Also, I would hate the dealer to tell me I need rotors? I've already replaced the rear pads.
This is my fourth AMG and I've never repalced pads or rotors.
Thanks in advance.

It's probably just the wear sensor being close. You'll need new pads, but I wouldn't wait too long, definitely don't go 5K miles on this. Replacing rotors at 22K miles doesn't sound normal even on AMGs.

I replaced my rear brake pads at 13K. I know a lot of others have done roughly the same. My fronts pads are still going strong. But I would be disappointed to replace the rotors at 22.

I have replaced the rear pads but am disappointed the front pads are likely so low, in fact, I haven't done a power stop with this car.

Get aftermarket pads.
Porterfield RS-4 are popular.
I doubt you have to replace rotors. The dealer will find any excuse to say you need to replace them since it’s $1000-1200 per rotor plus labor....big bucks for the dealership.

The Porterfiels RS-4 are awesome pads. If you do need to replace the rotors go with FCP Euro they have a lifetime warranty on all their equipment use and abuse it send it back get refunded for the new set. Also, the black edition free floating front brake fit our car. Looks better then the semi floating we have stock. Also, weight saving on the free floating over semi floating. If they offered a free floating for the rear I would have got them.
I will be having them paint the rear centers next time I'm in ti see them. Which is soon because I'm putting new wheels on the car. New HRE R101's in Stain Bronze

We typically collect an extra $130 to send a pair to the UK. The weight really kills things when sending it internationally. Brembo lists authorized vendors for the product on their site, it's very possible a UK authorized vendor is listed.

Front rotors cost $1050 for both.
Rear rotors are less than $300 I think.
I will be changing mines at 45k miles. One has lots of wear on it 50% used, but it holds up per my shop guy. NEVER GO TO DEALER FOR ROTOR OR BREAK PADS. THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY. TOO expensive for an AMG edition 1.
Listen I live in Miami and one Benz dealer charges me $460 for service A and another dealer up north in Pines charges $1000+ for service A. Unbelievable.
My shop guy here in Miami charged me
$389 front pads
$268 rear pads
$45 sensors
$141 install
Note the car was already up doing some spacers, suspension lowering, etc. So the price is not reflecting removal and reset of wheels etc. That is only the pad work. Mine was squealing a alot in very low mph. Thought it was break dust. Had about 1/4" left until the wheels were removed, we found one pad had cracked and was being reduced sideways. Listen that is an expensive car, put money down and keep it working. If you think those prices are expensive, get a honda or nissan...

Mine make no noise at all with the Porterfield RS-4 brake pads. And idk if it’s just me but after replacing everything they feel a lot better and stop better in my opinion.

Rotors are meant to last 100K thousand miles per the shop guy I go to. These are performance rotors heavy duty. You should check the percentage of wear on them. Benz dealer usually suggest changing them at 50k miles. You should have at least 2 pads per rotor life span.

Well thanks, my car has 22,000, I am praying to all Gods that the rotors are not bad, the pads seem toast now. Rear pads already replaced. Why drive the car easy when the pads wear and squeal no matter...

By the way guys, on my previous E63 2007 and E63 2009, and ML63, I never replaced pads (front or back) or rotors...why so unreliable now?

Yeah, Like Chris mentioned above, do check on the vehicle. Take to a reputable shop that does wheels, upgrades, etc and works on all types of vehicles. Ferrari, lambos, etc. Sometimes indy shop that specializes in benz and bmw may want to charge you more or a little less than benz dealer. My shop guy lowered mines with H&R's and showed me the messed up pads and thickness. I find instagram very good, some shops display all there work and you can go in and check to see how good they are and what types of vehicles are being worked on.
