What are your thoughts? I ordered the forged 20" black wheels. I'm assuming they aren't going to be cheap to replace and also assume that I can crush a tire with one big pothole here in Philly plus the occasional wheel rash from lots of parallel parking. Any thoughts? Any idea on pricing on an '18 E63S? Thanks.

I get wheel and tire every time I purchase. It’s unlimited tires and depending on who underwrites the contract multiple rim repairs. Something that I have noticed is with the hire tire pressure these tires seem to pop easier then others I have already popped two tires since November. But our roads are probably the worst in the county living in Nola

I am over any dealer warranties. Most of them you will never use and if you need them they will try to find any reason not to cover the repair or replacement. I have purchased wheel and tire warranties for many of my vehicles in the past and most of the time they covered the repair. However when I did the math I still lost out financially, especially for a stupid guy like me who has been going through cars every 6-9 months lately. Case in point, I ran over a pothole on my Porsche recently and sustained the below damage. I was befuddled when the claim was denied because "the tire maintains air pressure". Nevermind that the wheel may be cracked or the tire may have sustained severe belt damage that has not manifested itself quit yet. If this isn't fraud I don't know what is.

Im sorry to hear that I had wheel and tire on my last car and have it on this one as well. I can tell you I take mine in for minor scratches all the time to get repaired. I have also already had a bent rim and two tires replaced on the warranty since taking delivery in November due to a stroke of bad luck.
I bought my car and did not lease it so I was quoted $3500 for the package and unless you need a total wheel replacement it is really hard to see how it is worth buying. I did not try to negotiate so maybe I was given a really high price. But I bought the tire/wheel package on my last cart and never got my money out of it becasue in just about every case they simply have a $100-$150 wheel repair. It takes a lot of blowouts and repairs to make it worth while.

I was quoted about the same for my E63S when I purchased last December. I declined it.
My reasoning is this: as long as nothing happens in the first 6 - 9 months of ownership, wheels start showing up second-hand around the internet for around $500 - 800 (for example, here). A new tire at TireRack.com costs around $300. Depending on wear level on the other tires at the time of accident, you're out approximately $800 + tire fitment of $30 or so. Way cheaper than the quote.
This actually happened to my 2016 C450. I hit a pothole on I-271N and it blew out my front right tire completely. I had purchased winters from TireRack.com and they came with a 24-mo warranty, so replaced at no cost except shipping. I had the wheel taken to an alloy specialist here in Cleveland and they welded two sizeable cracks in the rim and resurfaced it for $350 out the door. The wheel looks as good as new and has been fine last couple of years since it happened. I am sure the MB coverage would've had my back but at much higher cost.
I can't see any way that the MB tire & rim is worth it at $3,500. Put that money in a bank account and use it for wheel problems, better use of your cash.
If you lease it and plan on returning it, I would consider it. How much is it? You pay for the hasslefree of returning the car with damages. If you take care of your wheels, shouldnt be a problem.
