E350 W212
New to the Benz world

Hey guys! Just joined the benz world. I am very familiar with e46 beamers and there are loads of DIY videos compared to w212's. I have been going through these threads a whole day now and still having troubles finding answers.
I recently obtained a 2012 W212 and I was wondering how i can find out what packaged i obtained. Avantgarde or elegance.
Someone had attempted to take off my rear spoiler that it came with and I wanted to know if anyone knew how to remove the entire spoiler and what kind of adhesive or glue to use to put it back on.
I would like to do a halogen to LED conversion for my headlights and taillights. When installing the updated tail lights do i need to clear any codes? What kind of LED bulbs i can replace for the halogens for my head lights?
Has anyone painted the chrome trim around the windows along with the chrome trim on the trunk to black and how they did it, how to remove it and what paint other than plastidipping i would like it gloss black.

As far as headlights are concerned, if they’re projector, stick with HID. LED won’t give the light output you get even with halogen. However, I do have LED in my high beams. You’ll have to get spare retainers from the factory ones, and modify them. Also, you need to remove the drivers side wheel and shroud to get to the housing.

You will find that non of the Benz forum will be as active or comprehensive as the BMW forums. I still own a BMW and go back and forth to these forums, it's like night and day.

Here is a link to a LED kit, make sure they fit your car

Why not plastidip that is probably the easiest way to get all the chrome trims? I believe most of the guys have wrapped rather than paint.

Welcome to Mbworld. Let us know if we can help you out with your lighting upgrades. As previous poster mentioned, HID conversion is still superiis to LEDs for forward projecting lights as your housing can better capture that light spread. With LEDs, yoully get reduced throw distance, light scatter, and dark spots due to surface mounted light distribution. LEDs are more ideal for indication (parking/city, markers, signals, etc) and short throw (interior, rear plate, fogs, etc) type lighting.

I used 3M vinyl to wrap all exterior trim and grille, excellent material. I also installed Morimoto 6k HID kit into the halogen projectors a couple of years ago with great results. LED inside and in parking lights - I just used CANBUS bulbs without any problems.
