2019 E63S AMG (on order)
Buyers Remorse anyone?

I have a 2019 E63s on order and it should arrive by early September. I joined the forum and was excited to read up on people’s experiences with the car. To my dismay, there are quite a few threads that describe various problems that people are having.

I realize that that this is only a small sample size of the owners worldwide, but i was hoping to read about how wonderful, exhilarating, and problem free the car is.

I wish there was an anonymous poll option, but how many of you all have buyers remorse?

~7500 miles on the car so far and I'm quite pleased with it.

Recently had it in for some clunking in the rear suspension, Mercedes replaced the left rear strut and this seems to resolved the issue.

I've had about 15 recalls or service notices on my Honda Odyssey Turing Elite and a handful on my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, had some on my F-250 diesel truck. Bottom line, every brand and model is going to have the odd issue here and there.

Brand new model for Mercedes. That there are few issues that pop up isn't a big surprise to me. So far the dealer has been responsive and treated me well.

Overall, happy happy joy joy . . .

2018 E63S
I have about 4,500 miles on mine, no issues at all. I've done two long road trips (Cleveland - Philly and Cleveland - Harrisonburg) and had zero issues, the beast loves the highway. Aside from the 2,000 mile diff oil change, no problems at all.

No buyer's remorse here.

No matter what car you buy , from a Hyundai to a rolls Royce , they will all have some kind of issues. It comes down to your dealer service’s efforts used to resolve the problems.

i have mine for about 6 months now and some of the issues I have are minor but they are annoying as I was making multiple trips to have them resolved

3000k miles here with no issues. I think earlier builds had a higher proportion of problems and kinks that were worked out over the course of the production year.

6k miles with no issues to speak of. The occasional rear differential error message and a garage door opener needing a software update = zero issues. Software seems to be the achilles heel of all modern cars. The new M5 needed a software update from the get-go to drive properly. No big deal...
In the scheme of things, given that these cars are pushing 650+hp in real life, they are really easy to live with toys with very minor annoyances.

People usually are more prone to share their disappointments and problems rather then how happy they are, therefore you will see plenty of posts from the 2-3% of unhappy owners and almost nothing from the remaining 97%.
Which post would you think would be more often clicked on?:
"I'm very happy with my E63"
or
" I'm very unhappy with my E63"
Human nature.......

I have 4500 miles on my car which was delivered in February, 2018. The only service that has been required thus far is the 2000 miles differential oil change. No squeaks, rattles, strange noises (other than tire/road noise). I did change out the original Pirelli tires for Michelin PS4 because of noise and handling.

I wondered this myself I'm close to ordering a 2019, I read someone had the tires changed out at the dealership prior to delivery but didn't know if that was free of charge or not. Many pics I've seen show the Michelin and those would be what I'd want.

Was it a dealer option for which tires to spec? Or just random?

The bad news threads will always make front page, its forum inevitable. We have a pic thread that has well over 30k views and almost every user here's posting with all postive comments. We also have many many new member postings too but those threads usually just get a congrats and then they die while the negative ones receive all the attention.

I love my ED1 and have zero regrets. As for the Pirelli tires; they came on my car but before I took delivery a huge chunk of metal was found in the rear tire so they swapped the PS4 tires. (Im in So Cal).

If you go to the M5 F90 board you will read about drive train malfunctions, 1200 mile dealer issues lacking product, launch control issues, etc. And this car has been out for a much shorter time. Again I attribute this to forum posting mentality where bad news not only gets posted immediately but it also travels at a much more rapid pace.

It also could be the reliability of the M5 and issues are more so than E63 as in general BMWs are known to have the most issues. Not hating, just speaking from many owners of both brands who have told me the same thing.

Shahul or Steve—did you see a pattern for which cars got which tires? Like for example were earlier builds Pirelli’s and later ones were Michelin’s?

Also—any word if 2019 cars would have a better solution for radiator protection?

It is a great car. After driving it for 6 months the only thing I would do different is include the Carbon Ceramic brakes in the order. The brake dust on the wheels from the standard brakes is a real hassle.

Sounds about what I expected.

Though I feel like some brake dust is worth the savings.

My wagon has CCBs and the only thing on the rims is road dirt, no brake dust. Going to ceramic coat the rims as well to help shed dirt too. Had the same setup on my '17 R8, It was 6 months and 4k miles before there was enough buildup to even make it worth cleaning.

With normal street use, the ceramics should last at least 100k miles. Steels will require replacement within 50k miles. And the CCB's put off no brake dust.

Are you purchasing or leasing? If leasing, consider the net cost of the CCB's over the lease term. On my 2019 build, the CCB's add $115/month to the lease payment, before MSD's (per the online configurator), or $4140 over 36 months. Steel rotors, pads, etc on my 2015 E63 were a bit over $5k at 30k miles. And the CCB's put off no brake dust.

And did I mention the CCB's put off no brake dust?
