Looking for rear seat belt removal instructions

I have got failed seatbelts on my 2014 W222 rear left. Any chance to get help here on the procedures of removal instruction? The dealer quoted around 800 USD (in Taiwan) for replacement. No big deal but not happy neither for a part supposed to work much longer.

No, dealer said warranty expired. Not sure how long a seatbelt warranty last! Funny thing was that dealer also advised the center rear seatbelt will be failing soon. I am sure that center rear seatbelt has never been touched.

What year is your S class and model. Does Taiwan Benz have different warranty coverage because a seat belt is a hazard not to be cover under warranty.

Nov. 2013 W222 S400 Hybrid.

I guess the general warranty is 3 years or 50,000 KM in Taiwan. Mine has less than 30,000 KM up-to-date so the 3-year rule kicked in and the warranty expired in 2017. I personally think the seat belt is a safety device that should not fail with such little usage. Then again the new technology always comes with more electrical components that are timed to be failed.

Looks like not too many owners have ever seen this problem here so my seat belt could be just an independent case.

I haven’t seen any seat belt issues here on the forum, but it doesn’t mean it’s an isolated issue. Here in the US, if that happens and the dealer can’t get it cover warranty which has obviously expired, we would ask MBusa to step in and review the problem.

Maybe you can ask your Mercedes dealer in Taiwan to contact Mercedes Benz and see if MB corporate can cover it because it poses as a threat to safety or you can contact MB directly.

Best of luck.

VIN (equipped with individual seat design, electrically adjustable rear bench seat)? Failure - belts, buckles @ seat, both? Have you contacted MB directly for assistance?

Konigstiger,

Thank you so much for the help! The dealer gave me a deep discount(US$450) to replace the seat belt. I thought it is reasonable and got it fixed today.

And instead of buying the seat belt from MB, you can just send them out to be repaired.

Also I had the problem with my seat belt once, took the trim apart and blew out the mechanism and it started working again so I didn't even have to send it in. Still working fine over a year later.
