SOLD: 2005 E55 AMG in Brilliant Silver Metallic - 60K Miles
I am selling my low mileage (currently at 60,010 miles as i do drive it a few times a week), well cared for 2005 Mercedes E55 AMG in Brilliant Silver Metallic as I need to buy tow vehicle for a race Bronco I am building so need to make room. Asking $19,250 or best offer.
This is one very fast, very quiet and comfortable sedan that’s not only a pleasure to drive but sounds great as well. I have not had any issues with the E55 but I have kept up on the preventative and regular maintenance and have records to show what I have had done since I have owned it (listed below) and documented what I know for a fact has been done previous to my ownership. I am trying to list as much as know about the car and will be very frank and honest. As you might know these can be very reliable and fun vehicle as long as you keep up with what it needs and pay attention to things that and this one certainly has. It does have some upgrades to the supercharger, throttle body and has a custom tune which was done properly on a dyno specific to this car. These extras do not affect the drivability in the slightest, matter of fact it just makes the car even better, hearing a slight supercharger whine is something I didn’t know I would enjoy so much, and I will sorely miss that sound.
Paint and interior are in EXCELLENT shape; the car has been garaged kept since I have owed it and it’s obvious that the previous owners also kept good care of it as well. It sits on the very nice original AMG wheels and has newer Michelin Pilot Super Sport 2 tires with about 3500 miles on them. The wheels have no curb rash and are in unbelievable shape but have a few small paint chips here and there from being unmounted and mounted and from age.
The air suspension works perfectly as does the different drive modes, raising and lowering of the car and the sport modes available. I do not know if any of the air suspension has been replaced, but as I said it works great even in the cold. In a nutshell -- a very clean, low mileage, un-abused, lightly modified, reliable, very fast sedan.

- Driver side mirror moves with memory settings (so motor works) but doesn't move with mirror controls. I have another door switch for the mirrors that I have not gotten around to replacing – I probably will not get to it but it will go with the new owner.
- As with any E55 with a large pulley, there is a slight jerk when the supercharger pulley clutch engages. I hardly notice it anymore but it’s there.
- When I replaced the tires, I had new Tire Pressure Monitors (TPMS) put in. When I bought the car it did not come with them. I haven’t been able to get them to work and I was going to take it to a Mercedes Shop or the dealership to rectify. So, a warning will display occasionally.
- Lower back pocket of passenger seat has a faded spot
- Does have a few owners (~6 or so per CarFax) because it was a Mercedes lease vehicle for 3 or so previous ownerships
Since photos were taken a few days ago I did find a stock front license plate mount in silver that I installed. Also I have a case of transmission fluid and some other extras that go with the car including the transmission dip stick etc.

Seems like a very nice car! Good luck with sale! Might be hard to sell in CO, there's a good chance the buyer may be from out of state.

I'd say that's doubtful. There were 2 that sold recently that both had 29k miles and they went for $22,000 and $22,750.

I agree. Might get that price/hope you get that price, but market seems to say otherwise for a modified car/colorado car (salt concerns)/and a 2005 vs 2006. And just average external color desirability. My personal thought is that the market value is in the $17-18k range at best.

The car is clean, it comes with a load of options and I don't see any rust. Chances are it wasn't even driven in the snow/salt. The modifications are also minimal and it has a good maintenance history. The market is slowly getting tighter on these, especially low mile cars like this one.

I have never driven it in the snow/salt, they don't really use salt here in Denver but do use mag chloride which is substantially less corrosive than salt anyway. I have had it on a lift and been through every inch of the underside and there is zero sign of any rust on it. Matter of fact I will see if I can get it back on the lift and shoot some photos.

unfortunately, can't afford it at the moment, but that's my dream. if you wait for me a few years i might buy it, LOL. good look with selling it. though i wouldn't do it, it looks purely amazing! what's the reason you want to sell it, if you don't mind me asking?

I am selling mainly due to needing a vehicle to tow with, I am building a vintage Ford Bronco to race in a Baja race and will need a chase truck/hauler. Also my commute is less than 2 miles to work and I have zero room for more vehicles.

A friend recently bought an exactly similar car with 53,000 miles for I think 20 or 21 though his is a southern car with 1 or 2 owners with only thing missing is the panoroof. I think you are spot on with the price, so just wait for the right person to come along may be not at 21 but should be close.
