B-0 service cost?

am i nuts to be paying the dealer $600 bucks for the B-0 service? I'm at 28k miles and its showing this is due now on the dash.

Here's what fletcher jones chicago says it includes - an oil change/filter is about 200 bucks typically. is a cabin filter change and brake fluid exchange and putting air in tires really $300 more?? curious what you guys did for B service.... thx
  • Mercedes-Benz Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement
  • Oil Filter Replacement
  • Replace cabin filter
  • Brake fluid exchange
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model.
  • Set tire pressures including spare reset tire pressure monitoring system (if applicable)
  • Brake component check
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Adhere to all require elements listed by model and year specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

I'd say yeah it's nuts but any dealer service package is going to range from a little to way overpriced. They love padding their service packages with visual checks. But if you don't have the time, space, skill, or desire to do it yourself then only option is finding a good indy mechanic which will save you a bit. Oil change, cabin filter, brake fluid are easily accomplished at home and can be done for less than the cost of the dealer oil change.

You can get $125 with this coupon from MBusa. $600 is on the high side though.

You should prepay for a service plan ... you can buy from out of state and insaved significant cash from per service costs ... I just re-upped my service plan for another 3 years

They also seem to run this type of promotion a couple times a year. Seems like they do it once in the spring and once in the fall.

I'd say the cost is about what should be expected. I do my own oil changes and air filters, but my car is currently at the dealership so I had them do the cabin air filter. $120 just for that, I'll be sure to do it myself next time.

Eddie - appreciate the feedback.... how crazy is it that you can do your own oil change on a e63 but the damn dealer needs to change cabin filter? i could do oil and filters and much more on my old c32 but not sure i want to touch my 15 e63

Well unless the W213 is much different from the W212, if you can pull back your passenger footwell carpet, undo three screws and remove and replace the filter, you're pretty much good to go.

the filter is like 30-40 bucks if you get OEM... cheaper if you get Mann or other. P/N: 2128300318

this video shows how to replace....not too difficult just time consuming. 20 mins?

I did all of my oil changes every 5k miles or so, it’s very easy and you don’t need to be a mechanic. 30 minutes tops to change the oil, oil filter and cabin filter. There are diy videos on YouTube and no Mercedes tax from the dealer.

I paid $380 after coupon and tax for my last B sevice, and $132 after tax and coupon for A service. I change the cabin filter myself at the A service. I have the tools and vacuum pump to do the oil change myself but not really worth my time to save $60 in labor. Plus the dealer has been good also fixing some rattles under warranty when I bring the car in.

Yeah, I just had them do the cabin filter because it was already in for service. I was thinking it'd be something like $80 to do it, but of course I knew it'd end up being something ridiculous. Oil changes are a snap with a Mityvac.

check these guys out, very highly recommended (Luckily they are in my backyard!)
great indy mechanics for our cars in chicagoland.
Had them do the A service (around $100), call them to see what the price for B is.

The $150 off $300+ coupon is back also so the MB dealer might be cheaper.
