2007 E63 Fuel Pressure Numbers

Hello everyone, I know its really important to check forums before posting but believe me I have been working on this project E63 since last October I have been doing a lot of searching and can't find what I am looking for so sorry if its out there and I can't see it. I have a 2007 E63 that won't pass SMOG because the Oxygen sensor monitoring won't pass. I rarely get a CEL but it goes away on its own, and when it does come it says bank 1 (right) is too lean at idle. I have changed intake manifold, fuel injectors with rail, 2 smoke tests for leaks and much more. I am now at the fuel pump but before I swap it because both sides are so expensive, I bought a fuel pressure tester and hooked it up, when I open the key without start its at about 50-60 psi, when I start the car, the gauge goes crazy at 55-60psi-ish sort of like its blocked or theres air in the lines. I wanted to know, what is my fuel pressure supposed to be at idle? I read most V8 are supposed to be around 60 but I also read that the E55 should be around 80. I wanted to know, is mine at 60ish too low and possibly one side of the pump/sender Is bad? also I used my same pressure tester on a 2006 S500 just to make sure the gauge wasn't bad and that car kept a solid 60 while idling. any advice would be great as I am dumping money into things I shouldn't be and we all know these parts aren't cheap. sorry for the long text.

Silly question, but do you still have the charcoal air filters on top of the regular air filter? Removing those causes some E63s to run lean and throw a CEL. Second, the fuel system is warrantied for 15 years on all w211s. I don’t know if that is your problem, but don’t spend your own money fixing it if you find out it is.

yeah the charocal filters are in place. Though I didn’t change them. I wonder.... I changed the regular filters. As far as the fuel system, even the pumps are warranty?

Here's what I found online (not saying its accurate!):

"The covered fuel tank components for the warranty extension include the fuel tank, fuel filter/sender, fuel pump, and all related gaskets/seals and retention rings."

'99 and '05 E55 AMG
Start with E63 (or your VIN) and select "Literature", then expand .07 Mixture Formation, select 07.61 ME fuel injection/ignition system, check the blocks for any info for which you are searching, select "search". Look for document "gf01.61-p-0999amg" and read to your heart's content. Be sure to delve down to "gf01.61-p-3004amg".

Bottom Line: fuel pressure is 4.0 to 5.5 Bar (58 to 80 psi) depending upon the motor's demand for fuel.
Two each fuel pumps activated individually depending upon fuel requirements. Each fuel pump is controlled single-phase by its own controller which is, in turn, controlled by a PWM signal from the motor electronics. Fuel pumps are activated for 2 seconds when the key is initially turned to the "on" position.

Tip: if you search by VIN you will get results narrowed down to the build date of your car. Important when searching schematics.

For anyone who gets the p228f code and is wondering how to fix. I was getting this code for about a week. During that time, I replaced the fuel rail and top of fuel pump sensors, change over valve and all vacuum lines, all fuel injectors, ran techron bottles, etc.. I tried everything possible and could not get the light to turn itself off. Right before buying and replacing the fuel pump and sender unit I decided to try one last thing. I opened the gas cap and left it off, then started the car and viola check engine light turned itself off immediately. Hope this helps..
