09 ML320 OM648 getting tuned
Scheduled for next week. Getting stage 1, 285HP/442Ft.Lbs, including DPF/EGR/AdBlue deletes.
If anyone's interested, i'll post up before/after impressions.

Before you post after impression, tell us how much it cost you and how the tune can deal with smog checks?
Knowing the country would be useful too.

Oops. Yes, OM642, and I'm in Alberta, Canada, so no smog checks here.
Cost is about $1600 Can, includes DPF delete (physical and software), EGR disable, Adblue disable, swirl valve disable, and tune.
This has been on my radar since I picked up the vehicle at the beginning of the summer, and now that the AdBlue tank has sprung a pretty good leak, its as good a time as any.

Good deal. I just had ours done at $1400 CAN + tx for the same deletes but no tune. I'm gunning for maximum life-span, don't need any additional power (wow, did I just type that?).
Edit: Our tank took a dump at around 25k km, $3k fix covered under warranty. Then something with the EGR just before the warranty ran out, another $1.7k.

My DPF delete was a custom pipe using the flanges from my DPF. Shop says they can easily weld them back on to my DPF if needed. Saved almost $1k.
The DPF/DEF/EGR-delete programming is from Malone Tuning, done by the same local shop as the DPF delete. I believe they email Malone the requirements asked for by the client and Malone emails back the tune.
Been a week now and absolutely no issues or check-engine lights. Seems no louder than before and acceleration/power is the same as before as well.

Ive been looking around and don’t have much reputable shops here. I’ve seen a kit online and thought about it but wasn’t sold on the JRTuning. I’ve heard great things about Malone. Have you considered the Kleemann chip too?

Nope. As mentioned previously, I wasn't looking for more power and again, did I just type that *wink*.
I was very lucky in that the shop that did the work is literally 20 minutes from my home up north, and I'm out in the boonies. Where you located, Bern?

No kit required by mine either. Local place with good rep, they do the dpf pipe as well. Peter2772000, do you notice any visible smoke during normal driving? Shop said I shouldn’t, but might see some under full throttle acceleration.

My shop said exactly the same thing. I can't see any black smoke on full throttle but to be honest, only someone following from behind would see any unless it was overly smoking.
BTW, in case you're considering a catalytic converter delete as well, be advised. The shop that did my deletes told me that in some cases, the resulting exhaust smell is very bad. Matter of fact, he had a pair of aftermarketcatalytic converters on the counter which were for a client who'd done that delete. Tech told me that the smell was, in the voice of Howard Wolowitz' mom, "ungodly"

Interested in why there would be a smell. What would be different after the delete when compared with say a W123 or W124 Mercedes turbo diesel with no egr or catalysts? Maybe lube oil burning?

Just getting the DPF done, other cats can stay if they’re not part of the DPF assembly. I don’t really need the extra HP/tq either, but it’s the same price to get either of 3 increased performance tunes once you want the full delete treatment, so Im chosing the middle of the road.

Older engines had low efficiency, so they have been spitting sot via tailpipe, but also some fuel. That makes that heavy black smoke you see when they are under heavy load.
Newer engines with common rail -develop highly-tuned combustion, so no more fuel spitting, but higher temperatures create different sot.
Bare in mind that sot is not a poison, but accumulate pollution in human body similarly to asbestos when/if inhaled.
Which sot pollutes more? I am not a chemist

Looks like google speller is not very familiar with technical words. 
Don't want to talk about it too much yet, but my ECU just arrived to tune shop in UK. They tested it that I can also do DEF tank delete, what I would gladly do to regain spare wheels space.
Anybody did that?

Ok, been driving for about a week now after the tune and deletes. Here's my thoughts.
1. Drivability, greatly improved. Much less lag from a standing start, no more of that rubber band feel where you hit the go pedal, wait, wait, then it GOES. Much smoother power delivery with more available. More responsive and more torque, quicker revving in general. Like it.
2. Fuel economy. Little to early to say for certain, but pre-tune, during mostly summer driving, display showed 9.8L/100km, 44km/h average, over 5760km. Post tune, for the last week, averaging 9.7L/100km, at 36km/h average speed. Haven't had a good run on the highway yet. I'm optimistic.
3. Emissions/smoke/odor. When it works, the Bluetec "system" actually works. Post tune, there is no black smoke, but do notice an increase in visible smoke and odor from the exhaust, smells like a diesel now. I was encountering a bit of remorse for the first few days, but the wife hasn't complained yet, so it can't be that bad. Would certainly be noticed or detected in an area where exhaust emission tests are required.
