2016 E63S slipping Transmission
I have a 2016 E63S. I've noticed as the temps have fallen. My transmission seems to "slips" going into drive(from stop) until warm. In addition, I notice the car starts in 2nd...even in S+ mode. Is this normal? Should I take to dealer and have them look at this? Comments appreciated.

Feeling sluggish or "heavy" when cold is not uncommon with the MCT transmissions. My 2011 was much worse at that though than my 2015. My 2015 does not feel that way almost ever. But I am in a mild climate so perhaps it would if I was in snow country or similar.
First thing I would try is to disconnect your main battery negative terminal for 30 minutes and then reconnect. This will reset the TCU adaptations and possibly return things to normal.
If that does not work, it's time to see your dealer.
Good Luck

how cold is it when the car starts in 2 in S+? I know on the w204 C63, including cars with the MCT, when the temps are cold, the car will start in 2 unless you force it into 1 by paddling down. this usually when it's like 30 degrees outside or colder, and once the car warms up, it will go back to normal and start in 1. I've seen this after a cold start first thing in the morning when my oil temps were in the 30s.

Agreed with all ... dealer time
can you pull any codes?
the MCT may need re adaptation. Do you have a tune? Is this a used car? How many miles? How many miles have you owned the car for?
even sitting at 0 F for 8 hours my 2014 never slipped and I always have it in S
i have 30k miles, bought it new
what does this mean exactly: "my transmission seems to slip when GOING INTO DRIVE (FROM STOP)"???

I've noticed a similar issue with mine in S+ it starts off in 1st but will immediately shift into second to the point where my head feels like it's gonna go through the windshield. Only really does it when its cold then it's much better. I've learned to adjust the throttle to avoid looking like someone who's driving stick for the first time. Took it to the dealer they said everything's within spec but I'm gonna do a trans service regardless to see if it helps.

It’s normal for it to start in 2nd despite being in sport or sport+.
ive asked my dealer, it is to put extra load on the engine so that it heats up faster.
This is only in winter temperatures. Summer time it will always start in 1st.

This happens to me in comfort mode second to third year, on a cold start when within 100 yards of my leaving my house I'm at a stop sign at a 45 degree slope facing up and press on the gas pedal normally. I have to really gently and slowly push down to avoid it. If the engine and transmission are warm it doesn't happen at the same stop sign.

Interesting. I guess since I live in Cali with mild weather it was never cold enough to trigger my car to do this and why I earlier said it's not normal. Interesting thing though is that there is a bit of contradiction with what they are telling you, So we are supposed to go easy until that nice blue temp reading turns white. But at the same time, they are saying "let's put more load on the car when cold to heat up the oil faster". So if all of this accurate, it tells me it must be more of an rpm caution when cold than load. Maybe. Hmmmmmmm

I have a 14 E63, bought it new, 25K miles, Renntech tune. Car began starting off in second in S or S+ on approximately every third or fourth stop two years ago and this was at least 18 months after the tune so doubt that is the cause. Weather or time of year has no effect in my case. Didn't take it to the dealer for fear tune would disappear if reflashed but I plan to have the dealer investigate before I sell trade or consign it in the next year or so. Not really a problem but not normal either.

I put my car in S mode. It started in 2nd gear. It was parked outside in the cold. That is normal, but i dont think it should slip once the wet clutch or whatever is locked up.

2014 E63s 1993 mazda rx7 on Boost
I tested twice
oil temp 27 car is S S+ or M will only start in 2 drive it slowly around the area I found at oil temp 67 it will go into 1st in s s+M.
I did test it again and this time was at 69 but I was unable to come to a stop when the car was at 67 but again at 66 no 1st...
I always drive in C until the ol temp move to white before getting on boost...Liqui Moly 5 40.
I am going to say my car drop to 1st at 67 so most of us if all is equal should seel 67 69 as normal.
