I'm just curious, thought I would get some input.
MB/OEM states that it is ok to skim their rotors as long as they do not go below rotor thickness allowances. Got that, so why do the dealerships have a no skim policy and only will replace the rotor stating this is the policy of the OEM, which it is not.

The GreatOne hit the nail on the head.
If you drive your car in a sane manner, brake rotors can last many thousands of miles. I once had rear rotors go 177,000 miles with one resurface.
Dig your heels in. Ask what the minimum thickness is in accordance with the manual? And then ask what the measurement is on your rotors.
Dealers not used to dealing with knowledgeable customers. My experience has been, when a shop learns your know a thing or two they cease trying to bs you.

I got the same response from my dealer when I asked if they could "service" my brake pads by just removing them, cleaning them, and putting anti-squeal paste on the back of them. The response was "no-can-do" - can only install new pads.

Mercedes will not machine rotors - in the event of legal issues - with OE rotors (non-machined) and future legal liability will be co-shared by MB and OEM - if brake discs are machined by MB dealer - all future liability falls on the MB dealer
