Thoughts on this 2014 E63 w212

Hi Guys,

I'm currently in the market for an AMG still trying to choose between getting a 2013 c63 or this E63. I don't know much about merc and would love to hear everyone's opinions on this car I'm currently thinking of purchasing

Check out this Mercedes-Benz E63.

thanks

As an entry to the Mercedes/AMG world you won't go wrong whichever of the E63 or C63 you end up going with. They are both brilliant cars but on several levels are quite different cars that appeal in different ways to different people.
The E63 you have picked out is certainly a good starting point and based on only a few photos in the ad appears to be in good order. I would recommend as an essential requirement a full and complete MB service record. MB started to use a Digital Service Record in about 2013-2014 but the owner should get a print out after each service. Any gaps in the service record and/or any evasiveness on the service history from the seller and I would be walking away.
Consumables ie tyres and in particular brake pads and rotors (on any AMG) are expensive. You should check that quality tyres are fitted as much to confirm whether maintenance might have been skimped on. Depending on how it has been driven an E63 of this mileage is possibly well into its second set of brake rotors and given this E63 has the performance brake option the rotors are particularly pricey. Obviously not a deal breaker if everything else checks out but if it is due new brakes soon you will want to factor this into your negotiation with the seller.
A 2014 E63 will be well out of the 3 year new car warranty. Some Mercs find their way back into the MB dealer used car network and get sold on with extended MB warranties but you would need to check the fine print very carefully if this is the case with the car you looking at as often these are not transferable on sale of the vehicle.
You really need to go into any high end car that is out of warranty with eyes wide open. However I do not believe the E63 in particular is any better or worse off in this regard. Mechanically they are solid cars that if properly maintained are unlikely to go bang but it has a myriad of complex systems that could still leave you with eye wateringly large repair bills if things start giving up. But this is the reason why a 4-5 year old car with average mileage that was well over AUD 250K when new now has an asking price of 80K!!
Hope this helps, check it over carefully but don't dive in straight away and do check out a few others as well especially any E63s for sale in the MB dealer network.

I'm not sure why nobody has mentioned this but that car is ridiculously overpriced. unless its in some country where they are uncommon. then I guess that makes sense

And they're really not worth the paper they're printed on. Mine had zero information when I purchased my wagon. It was only after purchasing it and having it inspected did it's background start to differ to the report. It's a cash grab.

I only use that report to check if the car has finance and if it was written off before

The owner of the car will be back from his holiday in a couple of weeks I'll be getting the Mercedes Benz dealer to do a pre purchase inspection when he's back then going to Melbourne to view it and send it back to Perth by freight if all goes well 😁😁😁😊😊😊. Should I get an extended warranty? And any company someone recommends? Thanks

Definitely get an extended warranty - first see if benz will sell you their Benz warranty

You'll do well to find a company that will offer you a deal if MB can't help you. I called 4 different insurance firms and they all turned me down as soon as I said "AMG". I'm over 2 years in without a warranty. It hasn't been cheap, but it's a bloody great car.
