What is A7 Service, and how much should I expect to pay?
I'm a few hundred miles overdue for "A7" service as my alert screen keeps reminding me. I know it's supposed to be oil changes, but I'm not sure what the "7" means. Also what should I expect to pay for this, and is it by chance included in my 60k-70k-80k package that I bought? Anyone know what the 7 is supposed to be mean?
I recall reading on here before that those numbers indicated the sequence of services (A1, B2, A3, B4...). So maybe the car thinks its the 7th service. Not sure. But they really don't matter as they follow the maintenance manuals on what's needed at each interval.
And it should be included in your prepaid maintenance along with any other required maintenance items like ATF, plugs, engine filter, etc. that are due.

Not really a sequence per say - the 7 indicates the car is calling for 6 additional items above and beyond the basic oil change. You have to dive into the full Assyst+ menu and toggle through each service code (bring a pen and paper) to figure out what the car is asking for. Below is the manual for the W204 (skip to page 24 which is the service code listing), this works on my pre-facelift W212 as its pretty much the same interface as the early W204. I was getting a B5 shortly after I had extensive service done on my W212 where the dealer failed to reset certain items they had replaced. I was getting a #3 (oil change), #4 (brake fluid), #8 (air filter), #12 (spark plugs) and #20 (trans fluid) - so hence the B5.

If you paid for the pre-paid maintenance then you are covered. A7 is basically an oil change and a few checks. Most dealers charge between $250 to $350 for this service.

The 7 denotes it is the7th service for the car as your next one will be called B8
Read website to see that a B service is an A service plus they replace brake fluid.

All of them -- except mine. My service indicator was at A3 after 4 previous service indicator resets at A1, B1, A2, and B2. However, resetting at A3 resulted in B6, 464 days overdue and next service in 25,000 miles. There is some chatter on the internet that the Assyst Plus system has software bugs that requires dealer intervention to correct. Sounds like a great strategy -- make service interval reset procedures ever-changing, provide owners absolutely no information about interval indications and workshop codes, stop publishing service interval maintenance guides, and make sure the Assyst system is buggy so that a dealer installed update is periodically necessary.

I should have read more closely. I see you have A1, B1 and not A1, B2. But I still believe that any Assyst system bugs are not specific to a model and year, but I could be wrong. There is no distinction made on the website.
one thing that bugs me, is there's no interval there for checking or changing front/rear diff fluids... I'm thinking thats a good idea at the 60k mile or 6 year interval.

Each service occurs every two years but alternate each year. So, if the brake service is missed at a 2nd service, let's say the first B service, it will be picked up at the next A service and then every two years.
Also, notice the items under the A service also apply to the B service. Then, all of the Other services occur at a specific time or mileage.
My cars have always come with the month and year of the last brake fluid change written with a Sharpie on the reservoir, so I know when it needs to be done again. The Sharpie ink is easily removed with rubbing alcohol.

I will also say to check the maintenance schedule for your specific model and year. For example, my 2014 C350 requires the fuel filter to be changed every 15 years or 150,000 miles, while my 2015 SL400 requires the fuel filter to be changed every 10 years or 100,000 miles.
Great info above! Curious that while tire checks are listed, nobody has added tire rotate/balance. Obviously there are constraints if you're staggered, but I have my square setup done every 5K miles. I have 22K on my current set and am 8/32 on all 4, down from 12/32 new with no unusual wear. Dealers usually charge extra but many tire dealers do it free on tire sets they sell.

A MB UK forum post (https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/threads/...roblem.278284/) discusses a bug on the 5th reset cycle. Last week, I was at "A3" (the 5th -- A1, B1, A2, B3, A3), and resetting caused my Assyst to register "B6, 464 Days overdue, 40,000 km". I wasn't able to change it until after I'd driven some distance (~160 miles) a couple days later. It's now sitting at "Service B due in 359 days". I keep my own service records and do A/B service every 5K miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first, so as long as I'm not getting overdue indications at startup, I don't care how buggy Assyst is.
