Daughter ruined her nosecone on parking bumper. Where to buy new one?

My daughter just came back from the park, and she had parked her car and scraped over the parking space cement bumper, and backed off it, and it pulled out her nose cone, the big white piece that wraps all the way around the front of the car, wrapping from the driver's side 1/4 panel to the passenger side 1/4 panel.

It sort of snaps back on, but the cheap interface where it ties into the passenger side quarter panel above the tire, it is completely severed under the stress, so we have to get a new front piece if we ever want to see a nosecone line up perfectly to the quarter panel again.

Can anyone give recommendations on where to buy a new one, and how much it might cost for the part? I'm pretty sure I won't have a lot of problems installing it.

You don't say if you have AMG styling or not, Distronic, etc. Carparts has it in about the $200-600 range depending on style...pre primed.

Here is another photo of the front, i don't know how to tell if it is an AMG part or not. I know the car itself is not an AMG. coincidentally, I had also just seen carparts.com as well. But comes only pre-primed. Any idea on what it costs to get it painted? I'm sure the dealer would charge an arm and a leg for it.

I'm not sure, but seeing that it looks like a polar white, I wouldn't imagine it to to be too bad; especially if you are removing and installing it yourself. It depends on the dealership or your indy shop. Call and get some estimates. My guess: $200-500.

This one is located about 3 hrs from you. A much cheaper option than buying an aftermarket, potentially terrible fitting, bumper and then deal with fitting and painting it. Plus, since you don't need the lower grill, foam impact bar, and inner support brackets for the bumper you might be able to negotiate them out of the deal and lower the price.

If you look at the photos from that eBay listing, he's got stress cracks, especially around the small square sensor hole. There's no way that guy will ever sell his bumper, unless some poor buyer doesn't pay attention.

anyway, how do I tell if we have the AMG front bumper or not? The car itself is not AMG, but it could still have the AMG bumper right?

Take it to a body shop (not the dealership or a mechanic shop) and get an estimate before you buy the part., I've done the same thing and they were able to repair it. Also, they have vast part networks and can possibly get the part cheaper if need be.

Honestly, it doesn't look that bad. I would just fix it. I've used the Lord Fusor plastic repair adhesive before with great success. It's like a bondo for plastic. I've used it to "weld" plastic parts together and it held up really well. Get behind the fender well and unscrew those bolts to get that broken piece off. Then take the whole bumper off (watch on youtube how to do this) and just fuse that piece on with the adhesive. I would ziptie the ends of the broken piece on each side to the bumper by drilling small holes to "stitch" the piece back on. Once the fuzor dries up, you can cut the ziptie from the top and sand it smooth. Make sure to lay it on thick in the back to really secure it and put a thin coat on the top side to ensure the adhesive seeps through and made a good bond. THen use some touchup paint and it shouldn't be too noticeable. It's a $20 fix versus a few hundred bucks. There's always the chance your daughter bumps into something again anyways.

Good catch. I didn't scrutinize the pictures, but regardless it is a cheaper alternative than buying an OEM one from the dealership. Funny enough, it did sell.

To answer your question, no your C250 does not have the same bumper that's on my C63. The C63 front bumper is wider than a regular W204 and will not line up with your stock fenders. Your car has the sport bumper, DO NOT buy the luxury bumper. The luxury bumper has a "smile" and the sport bumper has a "frown" is the way I like to call it.

EDIT: I agree with everyone else, go to a body shop and have the bumper repaired, it will most likely cost significantly less than R&R.

I agree with the suggestions for a indy body shop visit. They could fashion a repair or provide an aftermarket replacement for a very reasonable part cost. The paint and prep will be the bigger expense. Please look closely at the headlamp and fender / hood alignment. I think you may need a slight push or pull to some brackets to get the alignment back to perfect. I was recently backed into, and have a similar bumper allignment to resolve. I'm waiting to see if the funds show up. If not, I'll be doing some bodywork in this area when I jack up the front for a brake job.

Would take it to a body shop. You also need to make sure the metal attachments on the quarter panels are not bent due to the flexing of the bumper cover.
