OEM Radiator Guard a must have!
if you have a pre-2019 AMG E63 .. you need to walk out and check to see if you have the plastic guards that go over your exposed radiators.. my car had the two outer ones but not the center radiator. And of course it got punctured. Save yourself the hassle... and $2300
The middle grill cover's part number is 099-503-01-00 $33.00 (I don't have the part numbers for the outer grills) I believe it can be installed without removing the nose of the car.
here is without...

The guard is designed to avoid punctures to the radiator cores, not to cover the fins because that would reduce the ability for the radiator to cool. The fins do not hold coolant. IMO, this is the best solution with the least amount of compromise in cooling/performance.

they work to knock down the velocity of the stone or whatever is coming in...the aftermarket ones ruin the look of the intakes.
Incidently... the blue car is a brand new 2018 GTR that had the grills on the other outer radiator and center one..but not this side. Go figure.
My car had been smelling like antifreeze for a while before it finally puked it out...

My car is 2018 and it has those useless plastic pieces over those radiators and they really do not protect radiators.

I really like look of the car with additional grills btw.
And as I mentioned before my car is 2018 and has all those black stock "grills" over all raqdiators, as you showed back in 1st message

Sorry about that, but this is the price for "saving" $360 on aftermarket protective grills.

Hello,
Get the grill protectors from Zunsports. I got them and installed them in a few minutes. Just as important as keeping rocks and ballistic objects from puncturing your cooling heat exchangers, it also prevents build up of leaves and debris. I had my E63S for about 1 week, and I actually had to vacuum out leaves and road debris before I installed them. I have 2000 miles on now, and the heat exchangers are free from damage and debris. Well worth it.
Cheers,

Each to his own... I'm simply trying to be helpful by alerting people to a potential problem and bringing the OEM solution to clearly what has been an issue with cars that weren't equipped with the OEM plastic guards. So as a starting point for anyone who walks out and checks their car after seeing this post.. and they don't have them, well for $33 they can at least get some sort of protection. If people want to go the extra route with the Zunsport grills... then they can do that too! Sorry to have added my comment I personally don't like the look... but hey.. they are the OEM provider for the likes of Bently and I believe Bugatti.
Your comment is totally fine it's a personal thing, but the real thing is all w213 e63 have those plastic OEM guards and they really do not protect anything ))))

some of the 18s don’t (as an example my car didn’t )... and some people have gotten stuck with a hefty bill....

I don't understand why people still say that previous MY19 versions did not have these plastic guards. I never saw one model without them. Don't know if this is a issue particular to some country.
Zunsport is the better option. Yeah, they take some of the aggressiveness from the front but still look great.

2018 E63S AMG
The proviso is that whatever you struck that punctured the radiator was moving. A pebble / rock that has bounced off the ground high enough to strike the radiator is obviously moving, but if you hit say a stationary tree branch laying in the road that had a limb poking up, that's not covered under collision.

Oh darn I should have waited for a group buy! I haven't received my vehicle yet (coming in a couple weeks), but bought my Zunsport grills a month ago. Doh!

As I mentioned in previous threads, my late year 2018 has these useless plastic strips and my radiator was still punctured at just under 2k miles. My SA felt bad (and I didn't even purchase the car from this dealership), and got Mbrace to pay for half of the $1900 charge, as well as throwing in the 2k differential change - but still!!!

OMG, the threads on this prior to even having these guards was incredible! Seemed everyone was having radiator damage. Can't believe MB was so slow in addressing the problem.
