Ordering GLE450 GLE

Hey guys - New here and am set on purchasing my very first MB GLE 450. Exciting! Actually, was tempted to get the x5 but there's so many reported issues at the BimmerPost forums (not to say, Mercedes doesn't have its own problems).

Question - how do you config your order to get the black headliner? From the ordering page, it looks like (based on the photos) that the only way to get a dark/black headliner is if you:

1. Select AMG Line Interior, and go with Black MB-Tex/DINAMICA
2. No AMG Line Interior, but select Black/Magma Gray Nappa Leather

Are those the only two options or will you be able to get the Black Headliner with different upholstery options on-site when booking through dealership? (Not available online).

Is it possible to get the Black MB-Tex/DINAMICA with Black Headliner, without the AMG Line Interior? I would keep the AMG Line Interior but I don't think you can get it with the ENERGIZING Package Plus package or Driver Assistance Package PLUS with the AMG Interior.

Also - anyone familiar or have Acoustic Comfort Package? Useful or just waste of money?

When you you place your order, you can let them know what headliner you want. Let me see if I can attach a picture of the dealer order guide. It’ll give the combinations based on interior color.

My configuration shows Espresso/Magma Grey Leather (204) and Black DINAMICA Headliner (61U). The headliner is a $1600 option. I ordered it this way because my 2015 S550 has the same headliner and I like it.

Thanks for adding the order guide for the upholstery and interior options! This is great!

$1600 for a headliner is absolutely absurd!

I have no defense for that

The $1600 is only required if your interior upholstery doesn't have the black interior option, correct? If it does, then the upgrade is at no cost and included with the upholstery?

What's everyone's take on Driver Assistance Package? Worth it?

The headliner doesn't cost 1600.00, the leather package is 1620.00 (the non-napa), and a complementing headliner comes with it. Did I miss something?

I believe Bubba3 got the Expresso/Magma Gray Leather interior upholstery option which only comes with the crystal gray headliner so to customize and get this upholstery plus black headliner, you would have to purchase the $1600 Black Headliner option.

The black leather (non nappa) comes with either crystal gray or black headliner as an option.

Ah, as a unique order. A brown and grey leather with a black headliner. I think it must be costly because most people don't have a third color added to the interior. I'm trying to imagine what that would look like, because you can't make that choice on the build a car mbusa.

I would say the drivers assist, parking assist, and MBUX packages are the must haves. I know not everyone likes the nanny systems that take away from the driving experience but I feel that these options will only help make my drive much easier.

I initially didn't include the driver assistance plus, but added it in to use when I want and turn off when I don't. It automatically unlocks the doors in case of a crash for first responders, which is nifty. If I'm driving tired or sleepy, it would probably be very helpful.

The unlocking of the doors in after an accident is a standard feature.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards not getting it because #1) Not sure if I'll use it as much as I should and #2) it will require at least the multicontour front seats with massage (or the Energizing Package Plus) of which the Black MB-Tex interior that I'm selecting cannot be combined with either one of the additional's packages required for Drivers Assist. To get the Driver's assist, I would have to pay for one of the higher premium upholstery (as well as pay for the Driver's Assist package).

Decisions decisions.

Definitely getting the parking assist the MBUX Tech Packages.

I'm not sure the standard black headliner and the black Dinamica headliner are made from the same material. That might account for the cost (although it still sounds like a lot).

For me, the Driver's Assist package is a must. I base this on my experience with a similar package in my S550. It makes road trips much less tiring because it reduces part of the mental stress of driving. You can concentrate on the road and directions and unusual traffic events while the car takes care of the speed and watching out for cars around you. I also notice that my gas mileage improves by up to 4 mpg when using it.

Other uses for speed control is when driving in the city and setting the speed for 5mph above the limit. You can just drive along with the traffic and not worry about speeding. I find that, in Las Vegas at least, setting for 5 mph above the limit will not keep you up with traffic.

It is also great in bumper to bumper traffic. When in a slowdown on the freeway you can set the speed for 70mph and let the car mope along behind the car in front of you. You are not on the gas and then on the break then on the gas all the time.

In all of these cases, you still have to drive the car. You have to intervene occasionally. You have to decide when to change lanes. You have to decide where to go. It's not autonomous driving yet.

I did not get Driver Assistance +. Depends on your driving conditions and style. I like to drive and not be driven for the most part.

Decided to just add it as a "nice to have" feature...Not entirely sure if I'll use it as much.
