Just bought a 2019 SL 550. Great car. A couple of quick questions, where car I buy a car jack or
is there a how to jack up that car somewhere? Also is there a good place to buy MB parts?

I carry a small scissor jack and a few 2x4 blocks of wood. Don’t forget to get the proper sized collapsible lug wrench also. No use in being able to jack up the car but not get the wheel off!

SL550
Just buy a TIREFIT kit that fits under the trunk floor. No tools needed!

So I have run flat tires and a jack is now not included in the car, not sure why. So I need/want a jack mostly
to take my tires off occasionally and check the brake pads and clean the wheels. When you say scissors jack
there lots of different types, actually looks like the MB one is half a jack. Looks like a special type of lift is needed
that touches the car. The SL 550 has a small plate that is removable where you put the jack.

They sell the genuine MB R231 jack & tool kit on eBay, brand new.

Thx still new to the MB world and was wondering exactly what jack I needed. I am asking the dealer to
provide one to me for free, did not know the car came without regardless of the fact it has run flat tires.

If you want to use the jack simply to take off tires occasionally, I'd rather spend the same amount of money on a proper floor jack. The last one we had was in a R230 SL and it was usable only in emergency situations.

I agree I have a nice floor jack, the question is how does it attach to the frame to jack it up. Like on a Porsche it
had a small home. Is the frame flat under that flap you need to remove at the jack point?

Thx Wolfman. After looking at it a lot closer I thought the jack needed go where the small plate was on the rocker panel.
But apparently the real jack point is just right behind it in the frame. I ordered one already from Amazon.

Now if I could get those cooling seats to work a lot better I'd be happier here in FL.

Those jackpots and pucks are no-brainers. You snap it in and then just roll the floor jack into the right position. Nothing can slip or get damaged. Just make sure the adapter is properly plugged in.

Re. the cooling, there is none. MB seats are only vented, not cooled. But the fans are bi-directional so they pull air and push air. This is why you can turn on the vent and heat function at the same time. That accelerates the seat heating...

Good point, my mistake thought ventilated meant cooled. Marketing must have stayed up all night for that one.

Yeah Porsche has pucks also.

Yes. I wanted to take the wheels off, clean them, look at the brake calipers, shocks, etc.
Like to know how things are built I guess.

Ha! I have indeed been thinking of lowering the car a bit with coil overs and swapping wheels but am reminded that my wife's back has priority over cosmetic improvements
But it is such a well-riding sports car, apart from the "AMG firmness" that you would appreciate.

We have the benefit of the car lift so it's easy to get below.

Well, I was quoting and referring to our friend Wolfman, but that’s OK. Sounds like you and he are a lot alike. AND, it is currently cocktail hour in California. Cheers!

If you go that far to clean wheels I suggest to swap the factory brake pads with ones from racingbrake.com. The factory ones are brake dust factories
The wheels looks dirty after 15 miles

You know, I have been wondering how the crazies we have here in La La Land—California—have not figured out just how much brake dust is getting expelled into the atmosphere each day, by MB & other cars & trucks. I’m sure it will come up shortly and the cities and counties will add a few more bike lanes to try and compensate for it. Surely there must be legions of engineers working on trying to invent a dustless disc—or other type—of brake, don’t you think?

Ha that was funny, I thought you meant me.Yeah I've had the car about a week and my wife caught me looking online at ways to improve
it. She just laughed. Yeah like coil overs and better brakes, better intercooler for a start. Hard to find a lot of technical information about the
motor on this car.

True my last car a Porsche had ceramic brakes, zero brake dust. I am surprised that most pads expel that much dust.

hey, does this mean that my neighborhood tire shop - where they wheel floor jacks around an open-air lot, and they've jacked up my W209s, W211, W203s and W202 - won't be able to jack up my R231 without this "puck"??
