looking into multiple models
First MB
Hello,
I will be purchasing a 2013 or 2014 cls 550 4matic in the next month or so and I'm looking for information. This will be my first MB coming from a handful of fun cars- camaro zl1, focus rs, and an sti.
Info I'm looking for is general cost to own, regular maintenance, common failures or problems, and light upgrades. This will be my daily driver and will see winter conditions for half the year or so here in Colorado.
Upgrades I'm interested in are downpipes and tune. I'd like to keep it dependable as possible with about 550hp
Thanks for any info in advance

Mike,
You're making a good choice. Depending on how soon you want/need a CLS550, do a nationwide search for low mileage cars. I'm also in CO and found a very low mileage, loaded 2013 Certified Pre-Owned with a 1-year warranty in Cincinnati. I drove my 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon there and got a great trade-in on it. I enjoyed the trip back home, getting to know my new car along the way.
I haven't heard of problems with the CLS, but if you can get a CPO car you have a warranty and you can renew it for another 2 years. The smooth power in these engines is amazing compared to a pushrod V8. Good luck, search hard and you'll find the car of your dreams! Marv

2010 E550 4Matic sold, 2015 CLS 550 sold, 2016 CLS 550
I find the air suspension usually goes...so check on that. If you can afford it, 2015 has facelift and some interior differences including Nav screen. 2016 Has 9 speed transmission (love it) and CarPlay for builds after sometime in December 2015

I haven't seen too many CLS550s here yet. Where are you located, I'm in Castle Pines. Mine is a 4Matic. The dealer changed the batteries and installed new AS tires as part of my deal. Marv

And a third 2014 here in Littleton. Also 4matic. Second on keeping batteries fresh. BTW, I've got a set of 18" OEM Contis with ~ 150 miles on them I need to get out storage - make me an offer.
Motivated. PM me.

Just purchased my cls550, not the 4 matic but not needed in Florida like you’d want in Colorado I would assume. I’m not going to say I’ve driven a lot of cars like most of the guys on here but Before this purchase I test drove a bmw 6 series, a ghibli, new Cts , 2012 c63 (which was my 1st pick until I drove the cls) I absolutely love the way the car drives I find myself just getting in the habit of turning off the eco mode and putting it into the sport suspension setting and every drive I take puts a smile on my face. It is so much fun to drive, it’s classy and comfortable but when you need to move, you move. The interior is super comfortable I have no complaints so far but it’s early in ownership but I’ve done a lot of research on these cars before I purchased them and this car seems like everyone that owns it loves it and now I happily can say the same thing the cls 63 is next ...... but post pics of your new ride when you get it

I'm in the market for a CLS 550 4Matic as well. Just waiting on a pre-purchase inspection to be completed from a distance out of state dealership. I started out with a BMW 6GC, then was ready to buy an Audi S7 before I finally decided to go with the Merc. I still like both the S7 and CLS but right now, the CLS is winning.
