Radio Rebooting Every 2 mins ???

My 2014 G550 radio comes on and plays for about 2 mins then it will freeze (no buttons works during this time) it will then reboot. It will keep doing this cycle about every 2 mins. One thing that I have noticed is if you try to select Navigation when it first comes on I will give you a drive error. (DRIVE unavailable). I think that the NAV is trying to load and when it does not load it makes the unit reboot. I have only had this vehicle for a few months. Is the navigation built into the Comand unit? Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks

When you click on the Navi option this is what you get on the screen.

Try disconnecting the main car battery and let the system reboot. Hope it works.

Sure sounds like a corrupted program. Good luck with battery reboot.

A gaggle of MB's
Please do not disconnect the battery - if you go that route then you need to reset a handful of other things like - reset each window - and reset sunroof - or you stand a good chance down the road to "blow" a window regulator or the sunroof.

For your COMAND - hold the Power Button down for 10-15secs and the COMAND "should" go into reboot mode.

It is quite possible the COMAND unit will need to be reprogrammed at the dealer - which online in the shop can takes up a couple hrs shop time - the good news is there probably a updated COMAND programming - you can call your local dealer about that.

go get the COMAND software updated...

Had same issue on my 2015 E class....

First time they could not duplicate...

Second time I specificially said problem is still there please check if there is software update as I am sure it will fix my issues...
(got a tip on some TSBs in W212 section TSB which had similar issues and stated update software)

Good Luck

If you are in the US you can use this site to see if there is a recall affecting your G.
