2019 C63: Locking differential oil change
I just spoke to AMG Germany to confirm what @roken reported on another thread regarding the 2000 mile/3000 km locking differential oil change no longer being necessary. I confirmed it specially for my US spec C63CS chassis number. They confirmed that the oil change used to be required, but no longer is. The oil is now required to be changed every 50,000 km or every 3 years. Since I'm at 3000km now, this saves me from having to get it done while in Europe.

I just picked up my car the other day and my dealer actually told me to come in for the oil change at 3k. It’s included on my agreement, so I’m assuming there’s no harm in getting it done anyway?

I did my rear differential flush at 2k miles and believe me what comes out of it you should lol.
Im planning on doing mine every 10k miles. Only takes about an hour to do so in the garage at home

I decided to get it done anyway. It's definitely an inconvenience being on the go, but I found a local dealership near Frankfurt that squeezed me in for Monday. I'm a bit late as I have 2500 miles and I'm going to the Nurburgring this weekend, but better safe than sorry I guess.

Just for grins, I double checked my 2019 AMG owner's manual supplement and it states the diff oil change is necessary at 2000 miles. For anyone who's still on the fence about doing it on a 2019...just do it.

Got the car back from the local dealership. For reference I paid 134 EUR plus 19% VAT for a total of 159 EUR. That comes out to 178 USD or 150 USD before VAT. Three bottles of oil and two screws.

Yes, I’ve had my car a week now and am still making my way through the manual but I also spotted that in the supplement.

Had it done at my dealership in Sydney a couple of weeks ago - no charge.

As I said before I did the service at 2k miles and plan on every 10k miles. I’m just doing it in my garage as it only needs 1.5 bottles of royal purple.

Yes, I ended up doing it anyway. I found a local dealership in the Frankfurt area that could squeeze me in on short notice. I do extra engine oil changes, too, so I have no issues with doing the diff oil change. It was just rather difficult to get it done while traveling through Europe, and obviously AMG did change something and officially no longer requires the extra oil change. There's no longer sticker on the windshield about it, but looks like they haven't updated the owner's manual yet, and both @roken and I had AMG Germany itself tell us that it is no longer needed. I guess one could speculate why. Did they see adverse effects from changing the oil that early, or did they revise the differential for 2019?

If you want to change it, go for it. More than likely won't hurt anything. But it isn't (and wasn't) required anymore.

It would be nice if MB would update their info. I just walked out and looked at my car and it too does NOT have the sticker about the "additional oil change" but the 2019 owners supplement lists it as a necessary maintenance item. Sheesh.
