Just bought a 2002 CLK430 and damaged the front grill

Hi
I guess the seller was right, the front bumper is low, those parking bumps ! Where can I find a bumper? Is it possible to change the grill part only?
Is there s a difference between a CLK430 bumper and a CLK55 bumper? I'm not familiar enough with the car to tell the difference between the two.I'm located in Los Angeles

Thank you

From my point I believe their is not a difference between the two. Both have the washer nozzle inserted, but just different engine size of course. PO may have park to far up on space divider which caught the bottom of bumper.

2001 CLK320 Cabrio
Terry123.......The CLK55 is a AMG model, which has a very different bumper than what I saw in the posted video for your 2002 CLK430.

BTW, your video format is .mov (a.k.a. QuickTime movie), which opened fine with Windows 7 and Windows Media Player, but other members may not be able to open it.

Additionally, trough production, MB made available numerous bumper styles, depending on both model year and/or the options a vehicle was ordered with. As example, while the CLK55 AMG only became available in MY 2001, my 2001 CLK320 cabriolet was built with using the AMG bumper,

Diagnosing a repair is very very difficult on the internet, but after viewing your video, the bumper shell seems fine and your issue is with only with detachment of the horizontal section, located in the space, between the upper and lower bumper shell.

While repair may only require attachment clips, used to attach the horizontal section to the vertical post , between the bumper shell's vertical posts, my suggestion would be to visit the parts department of a MB dealership and get a quote, as well as an exploded diagram of your bumper, using your VIN.

This will show you, details on what bumper you have, how it's assembled, what components are replaceable (e.g. including part numbers).

from your video there is nothing broken....the thin bar just snaps onto the tabs that are exposed in the video...the diffuser is often lost because it pops off...use zip ties to avoid losing it in the future...now if the tabs actually are broken, then it's a totally different story...the entire bumper needs to be replaced. Please respond about if there is a break, I have used another solution.

This might sound a little rigamajig but it worked ....I took 4 inch pieces of copper tubing (1/2 inch) and zip tied them behind each broken tab...when zip tied bottom, push bumper up so the break comes together...I then JB Welded the hell out of the entire repair....when you replace the diffuser, you don't see all of the ties nor repair....if you don't want to do that, look for ebay bumper or JJ Bumper in providence RI (ship bumpers)...there is a complete replacement guide on the forum...have also done that after wife pulled entire bumper off going over tire stop
