Sunglasses and console
I have tried 3 different pair of sunglasses and none of them fit in the overhead sunglasses holder. Given the limited storage of the car, I would prefer to have them up there rather than in the console. Does anybody have sunglasses that fit in the holder? Also, can anybody recommend a good organizer for the console? Currently I just have strewn about and would like to have it a little more tidy.

Ray-Ban aviators fit well! You should try leaving them in the glove box too, it's felt-lined so they don't slide around much.

I keep my 'oversize' Maui Jim Sunglasses in the dual cup holder area located just forward of the gearshift lever. With the lenses facing upward, my burl walnut trim cover lid still closes just fine, so they are always out of sight.
On the other hand, my smaller-sized, (clear lens), regular glasses fit very nicely inside the overhead eyeglasses storage compartment.

If you manually tilt the sunglasses midway through closing the overhead door, they will fit fine. Works in both my SL and my S. No trouble pressing the door to remove them, just this simple step when storing them.

Aviators are a 30's design (General MacArthur popularised them in WWII), my dad wore them in the 60's & I also owned a pair about 30 years ago - it is amazing how they have remained popular for 80 or so years.... MB should really get their act together so we can use the holder for more modern styles.....
