Wheel firment
I have a 2007 CLK350 Sport with 225/45/17 (7.5) & 245/40/17 (8.5). I am looking at a set of 245/35/20 (8.5) & 275/35/20 (9.5). Will these work without modifying my car ?

unclear whether (+) or (-) offset. I have been communicating with private seller on-line, and don't know exactly what I should be asking. He says that they were on an AMG S63 briefly. not stated why he took them off.
P.S. your? ride is sharp, but absolutely NOT what I want to do .....

Front 32mm offset, rear 35 mm offset are the correct offsets for our CLKs, however I'm not sure about 20's size rims. Search thru the wheel fitment sticky will show most posters are running 18's & some 19's. Also try to stay within 1.0% size difference front tires vs. rears. I'm running 235/40-18s front & 275/35-18s rear(0.7% diff). You can check tire size difference using a tire size calculator. Google miata tire size calculator

yea that will fit just fine on my wife's CLK i'm running 19's with a 8.5" and 9.5 with the same offset but i used a 10 mm spacer for a flush fitment, sorry i don't have any quarter pic to show the angle so this is the best one i have
BTW those tires sizes are too big for a CLK so you might have an issue there

Another inch and they would rubbing.
I'm looking to take the 20's off. The 30 series tires never miss any pot holes or cracks in the road. That low of profile is just to rough riding....
I'm going to buy a set of 18'sx 8.5 for it next. I can move up to either a 35 maybe even a 40 series tire. This will ride much nicer than the 30 series does

Tech. I don't think a 245x35x20 will fit on the front end of the clk. I would run that on a tire size calculator before you try them. I'm running a 235x30x20 on my front. The top of the tire is less than a 1/2 inch from the bottom of the spring cup. I'm not sure what the difference is between a 30 series & a 35 series. But before you buy them. Check out how much taller they will be over your stock tires. Then go in and measure how much room over the top of your tire you have..

pls confirm your tire sizes are 235x30x20 front 275x30x20 rear = 3.7% tire speed diff
Everythingfast, can you pls confirm your tire sizes are 235x30x20 front 275x30x20 rears? I ask because tire speed diff for those size tires is 3.7% & I've read MB wheel sensors don't like tire speed differences more than 1%. I'd like to pair 235/40-18 front with 285/30-18 rear but that speed diff is 2.6%. Thank you

Unless you just really like the look 20s on a clk are not a good idea. Tires have to be rubberbands to fit and the ride will be awful. Not to mention slower.

I've had no problems.. if you are running a clk500 and a 285 series tires they will rub in the rear. Not all the time. But if you hit either a large bump or a dip in the road. They will rub. If you put a light weight person (maybe a 100lbs) that's my girlfriends size. in the rear they will rub a lot more. Mine is at a stock height also. By going from a 275 to a 285 you are only picking up 4/10 of an inch. So let's just say you'll pick up less than an 1/2 in tire face (on the road patch) then depending on what tire you run. You will be rubbing quite a bit if the tire has any tread that rolls over the sidewall. Plus, you can't really see 4/10 of an inch from behind.
Trust me. If they would fit. I'd have them on my car already. 🤗
I've been looking for a new set of wheels again. With these 20 inch rim's. The tire must be a 30 series. They don't miss any kind of tar line, crack or pot hole in the road. (To rough riding) I'm looking for something I like in 18's now. I just haven't found anything I like. The problem with even going 18's is that in the front I still can't go much tall than a 35 series. Right now I'm really close at the very top inside of my tire to the bottom of my front strut spring bucket. I might have a 1/2 inch if that. You ad in tire growth at higher speeds & I'm sure its really close.
. GOOD LUCK.
Let me know what you decide???

especially on the front tires. I'll bet you don't have 27 to 27-1/8 split that into two. This would be from the center line of your spindle to the bottom of your front strut spring bucket. Like I said. Mine I'm sure is less than a 1/2 inch from the top of my tire to the bottom of my spring bucket.
. This is distance will remain a constant. The only time it will change is at high speed. Yor tire will grow the faster you go.

I just saw this post. 245x35x20 will not fit under the front end of you CLK. I have 235x30x20. If I could have gone to a 35 side wall series. I would have. There just isn't enough room at the top of the tire.

When I purchased my wheels and tires. I didn't even think about the wheel speed sensors. But, I've had no problems what so ever....
