Chromifying my non-AMG grill

When I spec’d out my ca (2019 E450C), I somehow didn’t realize that by not getting the “AMG package” meant that my grille would be all black (instead of having the “pins” be chrome). So I decided to fix it (with a paint pen). I’ve completed the top portion. Relatively easy and I think it looks great!

Hello Argelius,
Great job! I am very curious as to which kind of pen you got for that? Do have a link for the pen you used? I am thinking that the paint should be very, very resistant to weather, rain, cold etc? How long did it take you to do the top part?

thanks!
Jesper.

Here's the product I used. One pen was enough to cover the whole grill. It was surprisingly easy. Maybe took 40 minutes. Looks like it's going to be durable...and easy to do touchups.

I have a follow up question: how does it respond to a carwash - and rainy weather? how often do you need to retouch? I got the pen now, and am still contemplating to go ahead with or not :-)

I’ve only had it on for about a month and so far, no problems. One car wash. No rain (I live in SoCal) but we have had temps over 110° and it still looks great.

if you want the paint to stay long term, you need to clean and skuff the surface...
