EQS discounted $10k at our dealership
When to the dealer yesterday and on the window of an EQS SUV was the following picture. Only applies to lease deals, $7500 government rebate and $2500 cash from MBUSA. It is available on all EQS models!!! If you want to lease you can get a great deal. Only available until March.

They get that money back with a high interest rate / High money factor on the lease deal. In the end it’s not a bad deal but that $2500 from MBUSA is not as good as it sounds.

I don't think Mercedes qualifies for the $7500 IRS credit...vehicle must have final assembly in the US. Plus there are income restrictions. I might be wrong, but I'm assuming the EQS is assembled in Germany.

As I am understanding from this board, the $7500 credit is available to a dealer who leases a vehicle that meets the green requirements.

There is also an income limit as you mentioned which would disqualify most buyers that can afford to purchase a $100k+ vehicle even if there wasn't an $80k price limit.
This will not stop your Sales rep from telling you that the Tax credit is out there though. As is evident with that fake $10k card at that dealership.

Suppose you want to buy out the lease before the end date. a) Can you? b) How would that work relative to what you would pay for the car. In other words if you wanted to buy the car the next month would the price be the selling price for the car ie MSRP -the $7500?

The incentive is for leases only and is a loophole in the EV credit scheme, according to this article:
https://news.yahoo.com/mercedes-us-c...180743064.html
The article doesn't indicate when the incentive will end but I remember seeing something on one of the websites saying it expired at the end of January. A poster above says March.
This article says that the incentive is based on an IRS interpretation of the incentives: https://news.yahoo.com/ev-tax-credit...181335292.html

But to satisfy your a part of your curiosity. There was a $1100 acquisition fee at lease start and there will be a $150 purchase option fee at lease end. The interest rate was also 1.5% higher than what I would get with my credit.
So it works out to be $7500-1100-150. It ends up being a $6250 discount minus the difference in interest rate at lease end.
I will try to get back to you when I learn what the fees are for an early buyout.

Technically MBUSA is continuing the “federal tax credit” for lease only as another form of an incentive even though they are not being recouped by the government. No MB car qualifies anymore for the tax credit by the government

FYI Mercedes USA is "suggesting" a $3979 dealer contribution on EQS SUV leases so this deal is $1500 off what Mercedes considers standard. So this dealer is likely keeping some of the trunk money that MB USA is providing. That assumes the $7500 lease credit as well so definitely some good deals out there.
Here is the link with details;

FYI I believe the Federal lease credit actually ends in March.

My tax guy told us that since we had signed a binding "purchase contract" before Aug 2022 our EQS SUV was eligible for the tax credit. Our dealer was aware of the pending change and told us to sign, so it worked out. I'm glad they were on the ball for once. If you did not then you were out of luck, we ordered ours in July.

I see those deals all the time, including AMG models. I do expect to see increased discounts on these coming up. Here is a snippet from an email...

Would affinity discounts apply on top of those discounts? There are some good affinity deals through TrueCar and various credit unions and associations that appear to allow leasing through MBUSA (instead of financing).
