Looking to buy White GLE63S - KY Area
I am looking for a white GLE63S - 2016 / 2017/ 2018 / 2019 - less than 70K miles. I am not a dealer or broker, I am buying for myself and thought a forum participant might see this and offer up some ideas.
Need to be in the neighborhood of Louisville KY (couple hundred miles...). I've seen some in LA, NYC, Miami, Seattle... nothing near me.
Not interested to hop on a plane to look and test drive a car.
DM me if you have one and are looking to part with it. If you know someone who is selling, please pass this along.

What is the mechanism to ensure that you don't buy a car sight unseen, get it shipped, only to have it arrive and be a bust (serious immediate mechanical issues) - or not arrive at all. Lets call the purchase price 50K. I imagine the seller will not ship a car without being paid for it. How to protect against your 50K simply disappearing or getting something unknowingly with major issues. The car has a carfax and also a Carketa. When I called, the 'engine issue' was a small oil leak (of course ;- ) which was fixed. Could be... maybe not..
Does anything stand out? Started in Canada and moved around a bit. Is Canada a red flag?

Also a Carketa inspection report... (is this the PPI the type of inspection you mention?). Is this like a home warranty? Is this good for getting your money back if the car has major issues? Or is this just feel good?

Thanks for your help and insights.

There is always risk but you are getting a discount buying a used vehicle. Do the inspection and buy from a reputable dealer. I have yet to be burned when I have done those two things.

Buying a CPO vehicle from a main (brand) dealer is the lowest risk. My vehicle was 2 model years old with a good CPO report (new brakes x 4 and new tires x 2), and the sales person agreed to take a few extra photos for me. The vehicle is covered by manufacturer's warranty, followed by CPO warranty so the vehicle risk was minimal.
I found a vehicle using cargurus and the brand vehicle locator. Negotiated with the dealer on price, they sent me an invoice, then I wired the cash. Dealer overnighted me some more paperwork, which I completed and overnighted back to the dealer. Transport company picked up the vehicle two days after the dealer received my paperwork, and I had the vehicle 10 days after that. No problems.
Transport company recommendations can be found on this site and, for example, rennlist. Probably bimmperpost has recommendations also. I used Montway, no complaints. Good price, good communication. Truck driver ran into heavy weather so that was a pain, but out of his control.

After agreeing on the price, they overnighted me the paperwork with an overnight return envelope included. (I had to do one page twice because they did NOT like me lining out the arbitration clause.) I don't remember exactly, but less than 2 weeks later the vehicle arrived in front of my driveway in an enclosed trailer.
The dealer did all the paperwork for registration, taxes, etc. My tags came in the mail about 6-7 weeks later and I even got a refund check from them a couple months after that for the overpayment of taxes!
Couldn't have been easier.
