2007 CL 550 I think the battery in the trunk is dead

Hello All...

I / we just purchased a well cared for 2007 CL 550 with the Designo package. I believe the accessory battery in the trunk is dead. The car is completely dead and will not respond to remote signals. The windows will not go up or down if the doors are opened and closed without the car running. Its the same thing with the lock actuators as well, the doors don't fully close when closed by hand unless the car is running. However, the car will start with the key inserted in to the ignition and when running everything works. When the car is shutoff everything dies and you cannot enter the car with the fob if locked. You must use the manual key. Sometimes that doesn't work either.

I'm pretty sure the battery in the trunk is as fault and needs to be replaced. Am I on the right track?

Sounds like it. I believe my trunk battery is getting weak because I have a couple of check engine lights for items I know are not broken.

I'm going to replace it tonight.

Does anyone know if I have to take out all the trays on the trunk floor or can I just pull the cover away from the back of the trunk without doing any of that?

Replacing the battery in the trunk did the trick. Everything works as expected. The trunk floor panel does have to come out.

You need a T15 driver for the panel screws
You need a 10 mm wrench for the battery lugs (there wasn't enough room to use a socket on both).
You need a 13 mm socket to remove the battery cleat and strap

Congratulations on your new CL and solving the issue. I’m sure you had a big smile when everything worked.

Uh oh. I had this happen a few months ago, but it went away. I went to pick up my car for a weekend visit home from the dealer last night, and found it dead as a door nail as per the OP. I had just driven it around the dealer lot with my SA four hours before. I guess I have a new problem to track down.
