DC/MD/NoVA G class owners gathering

Checking to see if any DC/VA/MD area G class owners would be interested in a two-hour organized cruise/lunch sometime this summer.
(Did these all the time in the years I had a Wrangler TJ, anywhere I lived, as you can find Jeepers everywhere.)
I created a facebook group - if anyone's interested, please feel free to join, I'll make you co-admin/moderator, and hopefully if we get a handful of folks on there we can plan something.

Well, I can't seem to get the link to work. So if you just do a search in FB groups for "G Class Rally and Cruise" it should pop up.

Alright, so we're up to two members! Just made you a moderator so you can approve join requests. Feel free to pass along and invite others. Hopefully we can get a few more. I'll jump on some of the other forums later today and put up posts there.

I'll join up and hopefully get a trail ride together one day. As long as you don't mind a Cayenne coming along until I complete my transition out of the Toyota world, I'm game till I turn my Tundra back in and pickup a G550... just over here lurking like

You'll find there are not many G class owners out there, and even fewer who are enthusiasts. I don't know too much about Cayennes but I do know some of them have factory lockers and can get around. I run factory Pirelli Scorpions, so I'm not into rock crawling or fording streams (did plenty of that in my Jeep days). Still, it's nice once in awhile to go where a Hyundai can't go.

Yeah I get that, I'm not the norm coming into this realm, nor the Cayenne either but the older ones are definitely getting out there and have aftermarket support that's growing. I'll join up and see if we can get together sometime if people are up for it.

Let me know when you sell your G55 hahaha, I'll be after a G55 or G550 once I turn my Tundra in, but that's another year out. Mine's a 23' TRD SR5 with the Offroad package etc. It's a smooth riding truck, until the motors go boom as I'm sure you've seen there's a massive recall for. I'm from Toyota background wise, my entirely family. This truck is very cheaply made and thrown together IMO. Trim breaks, rattles in the stereo everywhere, blind spots over your shoulder which isn't a huge thing but it's super annoying. I'm excited it's leased and I can turn it back soon and no loss to me; amazing stroke on luck on my part for once

Toyota Recalls Certain Model Year 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX Vehicles - Toyota USA Newsroom

Folks who motors have gone boom already have reported 6-7 weeks to 3-4 months turn around for short block or long block replacement, total frame-off process. It's more than build dates ending 2/23 too, later builds are blowing up too, some MY24 have already too, the FB group while a dumpster fire, has a voluntary running spreadsheet of those unfortunate ones. Mine's at 24k miles and it's at the edge of the territory for imploding. At this point I hope it does, and I get a loaner a while and less miles I'm stressing about come turn-in day LOL. I initially thought I'd get a slide-in for a camping and offroad build, but I became so angry between the service department, issues, the ones that haven't happened, and learning once built and a light slide-in camper, the GVWR is already maxed out since it's only 1700lb on a Tundra, and I'd have to go 2500 series in something or to an F150 later that's 3300lb. So kind of a let down but not, learning experience and not what I had wanted, but it all happens for a reason. New Toyota is not old Toyota, I think here stateside the good ones stopped at 5thGen 4R, 200 series LC/Tacos/GX460/FJ Cruisers even with that 4.0L v6. These new TT3.6 guys are not happy and hurting, same motor is in the new Seqouia and GX550, total let down. Way too big of a maybe for me to be gambling on. Not buying a new "LandCriuser" 250 series with anything hybrid or a turbo 4cyl for 80k, it's insane. Sorry for the long post, but it's struck a nerve with me!

ahhh - yes- I'm only looking at Gen 2.5's 20-21's - likely an SR5 sport w/ large tank.... and like you, I'm a Toyota guy with a few dozen in my past... I drove a new 24 TRD Pro and wasn't impressed..

planning to build the tundra with much of what I had done to the 200 series and add the Harrop now that they have got tuning for it sorted...

My 200 build if you're bored.... still regret selling it... a gent with Intel bought it and did the Harrop but it took a while to get sorted...https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/my-...ido-xl.951734/

If any of you are White Castle fans, I'm planning a ~3 hr drive from DC to the White Castle in Whitehall, PA, with a pit stop in Amish country in Lancaster. I'm going to get T-shirts made. If anyone's interested let me know.
