Squeaky noise in steering wheel?

Hi guys.

So I've been bashing my head against a wall trying to work out what this is and now to stop it squeaking! I found a few videos on the old interweb all of which have so far, not stopped my issue.
I have attached a video the sound can be heard pretty clearly from about 17 seconds in. I tried to spray some WD40 (one of the suggestions from the interwebs) onto the black rubber boot shown in the picture it seemed to initially do nothing as the noise carried on, but about 10 minutes later, I didn't hear the noise. However, after resting an hour or two, I drove around for abit and the noise returned. I can't tell if the WD40 did anything or not simply because this noise isn't always there anyway. It comes and goes... and from my experience it is at it's worst when the car has been driven for sometime, 30-40mins+ and you're almost certainly hearing it at this point.

Power steering fluid is in the middle between min and max so that can't be it. You also cannot hear the sound from engine bay as the engine is just far too loud to hear anything like this. You can only hear this sound with all doors/windows shut.

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Also the car is a MB C200 2008 - auto.

Your car is a W204, not W203.

Sounds like the steering shaft is rubbing against the rubber boot. Very minor problem. A bit of silicone lube (get the spray can kind, not the grease) should fix that problem nice and easy. Just peel back the boot and add a bit.

Hi thank you for responding. I will get some silicone lube and give that a go! thank you!

PS: I thought mine was a W204 too! but this forum said "C-Class (W203)2001-2007, C160, C180, C200...." and mine is c200 so I assumed maybe I was wrong? but I see that it also says 2001-2007 and mine is 2008. Apologies!

Thanks for the assistance appreciate it
