Bose amplifier from Porsche Cayenne is the same as Mercedes SL?
Hi All
The Bose amplifier I need is not the normal type from the SL but the upgraded version with the integral fan #4166 and grey connected. There are lots of the normal type on eBay but sadly not for my car, however I have noticed that the Porsche Cayenne has the same Bose amp #4166 and they are cheaper, so my question is, does anyone now if they will work on my SL plug and play? I know that the Audi also uses the exact same amp but they are coded I believe?
Thanks

So I found the answer myself they are coded to Merc, Audi, VW, Porsche etc.
I have found a place nearby that can repair for £140 so will update on how that goes !

So I found out that the Porsche, Audi, VW amps although are the same hardware are coded for the makes, so my theory was debunked. However I have found a Bose repair company that can fix my amp for £140 so have sent this off to them, they said its very common and will return in 10 days, so fingers crossed.

Just a quick update, I received the repaired Bose amp back from the repair company and please to say it has been working flawlessly for the last week with no more 'System Unavailable' showing on my Comand Radio and no sound, so it was the amp all along not the AGW, I have sent the used AGW I bought back for a refund -20%.
The Amp sounds stronger with more punchy volume, I have noticed that my volume control is working again more precisely and the Comand Radio comes on straight away, whereas before it would sometimes take 15+ secs! The repair details of the company are on the YT description.
