I had the e400 for a 2 years, got a eurocharged stage 1 tune as well. Anyways I recently got my 2 muffler deleted and it's way too loud for me. I am looking for moderate side to mild sound of the tone. What can I do as this point to reduce the sound and also the interior droning (2.5 to 3k rpm).

Put the mufflers back on? Or maybe get some glass muffs. I have Dynomax Race Flow on my truck and I can't imagine a better or better sounding muffler. I've had my share of them too. If I were to mess my cars exhaust, this muff would be an obvious choice for me. Plus it can be cut/shaped/welded if needed to be custom fit. They also sell smaller bullet versions that would no doubt go right in, but I always go for the fattest that will fit because they sound so much better and quieter.

Does your setup have resonators? I removed both of mine and put straight pipes in their place and put W204 C63 AMG mufflers (although I think the mufflers actually quieted the system over my OEM sport mufflers) and it sounds good with no drone. Granted I have an E550 with the M278 engine but removing mufflers are a good way to introduce drone into the system. Note that I had an x-pipe on before and it made barely any difference and the straight pipes really opened it up.

Questions for both Calvin and RosSauce, out of curiosity: What did your respective ex mods do for you? Power wise that is. What really triggered this reply is the Ros comment "really opened it up." So now I'm curious if you meant power, noise, both maybe?
I've always wondered how much the resonators were costing me, but I've never seen the insides of them to decide if I'm willing to bother doing something about it. I don't suppose anyone has pix of the ones removed? I've googled set, but no pix of the insides. Looks like a glasspack, but if so the it probably has louvers? That worries me...
It seems to me that most people do it for the increased noise, which I don't really understand because I'm the direct opposite and want it as quiet or quieter than stock. Still, I'm curious of the power, and if I should consider considering the mod. I'd never straight pipe it, but maybe replace 'em with correctly designed glasspacks.
