Aloha guys.

I'm getting tired of setting the clock weekly in my 2000 E320. I searched this forum and on the net how to fix it but couldn't find any. Is this a known issue with this car? I know some cars are voltage sensitive, so I've already checked the voltage at the battery, both stationary and engine running, and they passed with flying color (I've replaced the battery when I first got the car year ago because of bad/dead battery the previous owner gave it to me so no surprise there). Is there something else I should look for? Or need to reset something? I'm loosing about minute a month.

what is the difference between 2024 and 2000 and once known I would start your diagnosis based on that number

Thanks Plutoe. I can think of several things, such as year (00 and 24) , model # and on and on. If you're referring to the number you gave me, than it's definitely a year. But I don't get what you're pointing out to. Of course, I haven't check the manufacturing date, so although my car is 00 model, if it was made in 1999, than my car was made in 20th century as 2024 will be in 21st century, and can't forget that year 2k scare. Is this what you're referring to?? Even the answer is yes, I have no idea where to start as this will need to go deep into the control system.

I did look at GF54.30P3011A electronic clock function---that said we have a oscillator crystal and cutting through the science when voltage is applied vibrates and you have time
my guess is that you should find a replacement IC or spend the weekend with family tinkering with your IC

Damn. We drive a Mercedes and I need to look for, or at least tinker with quartz function of the crystal. That's just wow but oh well.

In any case, thanks for the insight, Plutoe. At least now, I know what to look for or how to troubleshoot. That is, IF I can find the control unit for the quartz/crystal. My initial feeling were something more simple, but guess not.

Drove lots and lots of old car, but this is my first car that I need to go that deep to fix a clock problem...............I probably just going to fix my aftermarket radio that came with the car, or replace it and just have clock display there.

Please....................My last car before this (2004 Lincoln LS. Basically Jaguar in Lincoln skin) was a nightmare. But at least our car has parts still yet. I couldn't find radiator fan/motor on my last car. reason for ditching it.
